If you follow along on our Facebook Page you know what a free pattern junkie I am. I love finding them and I love sharing them. Facebook is such a perfect medium for stuff like that. Here’s an album of all the free patterns we’ve linked to if you need to catch up.
I have a circuit of sites I check in on regularly. Moda being one of my favorites. Today I spotted a pattern for this Zig Zag Quilt. I snapped this photo in Moda’s booth at Fall Quilt Market but never matched it up with a source. Until now! Woohoo!!!
The construction is so very clever. The pattern gives credit for the technique to Amandajean of Crazy Mom Quilts. I won’t say more, just go check it out for yourself.
ps be sure to read the comments on the Speedy Baked Ziti post for some awesome weeknight recipe inspiration – warning, it will make you hungry!

The quilt is lovely…but I am loving the chair!!!
Thank you! I keep coming back to Crazy Mom’s pattern … I must make this quilt!
Wow! thanks for the link to your list of free patterns. I’m a huge fan of Amanda Jean as well and can’t wait to see more about this quilt you showed.
Lovely quilt! But the couch has stolen my heart!
I’m a free patterns junkie too, and i’m liking that chair also!
So simple, I love it!
Love the zigzag ~ and your admission too! I’m the same about free patterns and as a result I’ve got a file that’s really thick.
Thanks for sharing the quilt and that little couch is to die for!
So different from my last project, but super modern and cute. I know a lot of people who’d like this!
Funny, last summer I saw this picture of a zig zag quilt http://www.flickr.com/photos/floatingworld/5932925992/in/set-72157627066990622
and I figured out how she did it — same method as in this pattern you just posted. I just finished my version last week. Here it is: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cathyagent/sets/72157628956347829/
Cute quilt Catherine, thank you for sharing the link!
Thanks for the link! Looks like a great retreat project
I love free patterns too! Thanks for sharing.
Perfect pattern and amazingly quick without all those Hsts! Just rectangles makes it easy!
Love, love, love it! Thanks for the link.
I love that pattern!
I love the grey look.
AmandaJean’s work is beautiful and creative. However, I do find it amusing that she’s given credit for working that technique out. It is, or was, a well known block pattern called ‘Lightening’ that is available in quilting books. In particular, I know it’s included in a Singer sewing/quilting book from the 90′s. Not that long ago. I’m glad she figured it out again and is sharing it, if it helps others, but it is a tried and true method that’s been around for a long while.
Hi! I wanted to share a few free accessory patterns with you for making a flat iron pouch, pencil pouch and a lingerie travel bag. Just visit my website at http://pixiepatternandsewing.blogspot.com/p/free-patterns.html
Thanks!
Tiffany
Love this twist on a zig zag quilt with just the two colors! Thanks for sharing!
I remember when Amanda Jean showed us her quilt–very cute. But this two-tone version is so elegant; this is the one that really tempts me. (I must finish something, so I can add something else to my list!)
Thanks for the list of all the great free patterns. I’ve seen several I am going to have to check out.
