Fat Quarter Tuesday Giveaway – Little Apples by Aneela Hoey

Little Apples is Aneela Hoey’s second collection for Moda Fabrics. A vibrant color palette combined with sweet images of children at play in autumn. This is a picture I took at Spring Quilt market where Aneela displayed her embroidery work along with projects made up with Little Apples. Quilt pattern available for free from Moda.

I LOVE  patchwork mixed with embroidery. The turquoise squares really make the little girl’s headband pop. And boy do I wish I knew how to do that stitch on the coat, FABULOUS!

We have Little Apples yardage, fat quarter sets, a coordinating solids fat quarter set and a quilt kit available.

More quilty inspiration.

This week’s giveaway is for a 9 piece Little Apples FQ set (we’ll give away one of each set in the shop).

I Googled Little Apples to see if I could locate a pattern for that second quilt (no luck). What I did find was some awesome links to all kinds of Little Apples goodness:

Aneela Hoey’s Blog – she has so many amazing projects made up – including a Pink Chalk Studio Pencil Roll (too fun to discover that!)

The Dallas Modern Quilt Guild hosted a Little Apples challenge, see the results on Jenny Garland’s Blog.

Apple Crate free quilt pattern available in the Moda Bake Shop.

Enjoy!

Question for the comments:

I consider myself a sewist that likes to quilt, stitch up small accessory projects and ventures into garments every now and then. What do you sew?

I started out on bags and small accessories (tissue holders, coasters, kitchen hot pads and the like). Now I’ve gotten into quilting as well.

I make quilts, mostly — dabble occasionally in accessories (mostly bags and pillows) and try to avoid garments at all costs (apart from the odd pair of pajama pants…lol).

I sew just about ANYTHING. I started by making garments and lots of baby clothes for my daughter and son. Home Dec items followed – even upholstery. I did alterations for many years, remodeled wedding gowns. I made my daughter’s wedding gown. Now I am quilting and love making bags, slippers, etc. I especially like repairing things and coming up with good solutions to problems – like sun shades for trapezoid windows. Love it all.

I guess originally I’m a dressmaker, that’s when I learnt to sew, but I’ve also made lots of toys and bags, now I’m into the quilting too. Oh, and there was lots of costumes in there, which I guess is still dressmaking.
Really I sew anything I can. I’ve made curtains and hats and pillows and puppets and toy food. What can’t you make with sewing?

I started with doing my own clothing from the age of 12 through to having children. Then I went straight to all things children. I swore that I would not quilt until I retired… alas I have no self-control. I am LOVING quilting!
