Jill and Marny of Modern Quilt Relish at Spring Quilt Market.

I was speeding down the aisle toward an appointment and their quilts made me turn my head and stop in my tracks. Color, modern design and solids!

The quilt names are cute: Nibbles, TV Dinner, Supper Club, etc. Definitely shop after lunch.

Jill and Marny like to mix solids with prints too so we had a little bit to talk about!

As experienced teachers, both quilters know how to design and write a good pattern. The steps are clear, easy to follow and well-illustrated. Those 3 qualities make for a quilt pattern that can be enjoyed by both beginning and experienced quilters. Many of the fabric recipes use a certain number of FQs, Charm Squares, or a Jelly Roll. The designs come in multiple sizes from Baby up to Queen or King.

These two ladies exude passion when talking about their quilts and it clearly comes through in the quality of their patterns. Jill and Marny have generously donated 4 patterns for giveaway. Today’s winners can select the pattern of their choice from the designs available at Pink Chalk Fabrics. You can follow their adventures on the Modern Quilt Relish Blog.

SPECIAL REQUEST FOR THE COMMENTS:
My favorite ride at Disneyland is Pirates of the Caribbean. The absolute best part is when the boat first takes off and all you can hear are the crickets and sounds of the swamp as the boat begins its journey in the dark. Yesterday’s blog post took me back there. All in a good way, you guys know I have a sense of humor!
I interpret the lack of discussion about Facebook on a Blog Post as the answer I was probably looking for but I would like to know for sure. Where do you hang out? Blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Newsletters, YouTube? A bit of each. Where should Pink Chalk be and do you get annoyed if you see the same things popping up in different places?
There are soooooo many choices these days. I want to make sure we’re spending our time sharing our fun where it’s most useful. Of course, I love the blog so much I would never not be here
Thanks for letting me try again!

- Every Tuesday two items from the Pink Chalk Fabrics online store will be featured and given away the following week in a random drawing.
- The first winner is selected from those who opened their Pink Chalk Fabrics e-mail newsletter during the week.
- The second winner is selected from all comments left on the blog for the week (comments from all posts, not just the giveaway post).

I definitely read lots of blogs/websites. I use google reader for pretty much everything I read regularly. I am also on facebook a lot, but I don’t like to interact with companies there–I rarely “like” a business or blog page for some reason. I think I just like to keep it to friends and family. Good question!
I go to Facebook several times a day, and I have “liked” Pink Chalk there. I read the posts and I use the links provided. I think you should definitely keep posting on Facebook.
I love these patterns!
Even though I don’t comment much on Facebook, I do check it on my phone ASAP so I love to see the updates from business I like.
Love the cool patterns! Thanks for a chance to win one!
Kat
It bugs me when a blog puts the same things up on facebook and twitter that is already on their blog. Why should I take the time to check all three if they are going to be the same?
I would love to win fabric for my cross stitching/quilting group; we make lap quilts, tote bags, walker/wheelchair bags for seniors and children from cross stitched squares for a group called World of Charity Stitching, at http://www.worldofcharitystitching.blogspot.com/
Thanks,
Peggy

I MUCH prefer blogs. I really prefer for FB just to be personal friends, not a lot of companies. Thanks for the giveaway!
I follow your blog, but I don’t have a twitter or facebook account. So any content you post there is of no use to me. I also subscribe to your newsletter. I’d say email is the number one way I get info, then blogs.
Hi. When I read your blog and website, it’s like reading a great book that I can’t put down. Thanks! I get my info more from the website and blog rather than Facebook. Mary
Thanks for giveaway and blogs. Nice patterns!
Modern Quilt Relish is a new one for me. Thanks for sharing their work! And I don’t mind seeing repeats on FB.
I use FB and my google reader feed very differently- when I settle in with google reader it means I have time to really read and comment and follow links from place to place… On FB, i like to see quick updates- esp about new products or sales. The updates often drive me to the blog or website, where I will take action…
i get my info from my blog reader and perhaps a newsletter. i am on facebook, but rarely, and i prefer to use it to keep up with friends, not companies that i ‘like’. i dont twitter, and never will
I read your Blog and I get the newsletter
I just ordered a pattern! Love the quilt with cars! What pattern is it?
Not sure which quilt that is Diane. Give me a link and I’ll take a look
I love these fresh and bright designs!!
I have one of their patterns and the instructions are clear and straightforward.
To answer your question: Read blog and newsletter, not FB or twitter.
Thanks for the giveaway.
I’M FAIRLY NEW TO FACEBOOK AND TO BLOG HAVEN’T TRIED TWITTER OR THE OTHER STUFF, BUT I DON’T MIND REPEATS ESPECIALLY ABOUT QUILTNG! THANKS FOR THE CHANCES FOR THE GIVE AWAYS. LOVE IT…..
I do most of my “hanging out” by reading newsletters, then going to blogs or facebook when i’m extra interested.
I love those quilts! And I really just pay attention to blogs, mostly, and newsletters.
I spend most of my time in blogland and Flickr, but I do get to FB every once in awhile. I think the more opportunities we have to be inspired and/or “in the know” the better off we are. One never knows when something will really strike a chord with us. I don’t get offended when I see something more than once, so go for it on your blog, FB, etc., and maybe one day, I’ll even learn to tweet.
I spend most of my time looking at blogs. i don’t like facebook and don’t do twitter. but, that’s just me.
i love the quilts from Quilt relish!
I started to use FB a few years ago and then it kind of creeped me out that there were so many people who could see my pictures, etc. I was so nervous about it that I decided it probably wasn’t for me until I learn how to use it properly—but I may never trust it! so, I love to read blogs daily and do so in google reader, email and newsletters are also great for me.
I am quite the social networker and lurk everywhere except with tweets. Just cant fathom it! Dont mind seeing same info twice …its easy enough to delete repeats. Newsletters are good….and LURVE giveaways!
I’m not on Facebook…I just don’t have time for all the different “social network” things. Or maybe I’m just being stubborn! I do look forward to the newsletter each week, though, and it ususally links me to the blog. Thanks!
I have to say I’m not a big fan of FB. I just can’t seem to get in to it (and honestly can not for the life of me figure out why everyone loves it so much!) I do receive twitter feeds, but I’m not all that enamored with twitter either. I guess I mostly “hang out” on blogs or on Ravelry, which obviously wouldn’t apply to you guys
I prefer blog over facebook. Not everyone is on facebook (I think it’s about 50%), but with a blog, the people who are interested in you will find you, whereas with facebook you have to join. There really are so many options these days, and I can appreciate the position you are in trying to figure out the best place to be for Pink Chalk. Hope the info you gather is helpful! And these patterns are amazing, by the way. I hadn’t heard of them before, so thanks for the introduction!
These are really beautiful quilts!!
Modern Quilt Relish patterns are awesome! Love the colours they use and the placements work really well!
I’m a Blog and Facebook person. Definitely leaning more toward the blogs than Facebook though. Thanks for the giveaway!
I just love these fabrics. This giveaway is a fabulous idea, hope to win one day
I prefer blogs. Love the quilts…especially Supper Club!!!
I get your newsletter, I read your blog, and I follow you on Facebook. I’m on Twitter as well. As an internet marketing professional, I can tell you that having a solid presence in many places is best (get some stuff on YouTube too!), but if you can’t do a great job at all of them, then just pick what works for you.
There are a lot of tools that make cross-posting easy (try HootSuite – the free version is pretty good for a smaller business to use).
And, I don’t mind seeing the same content in different places. It reinforces what you post.
I like your blog and email newsletter. Have little time for Facebook and consider it more for friends and family than businesses.
Others probably like Facebook and not the blog.
You’ll never pick the perfect social media, but a healthy mixture introduces or brings people back to Pink Chalk.
those fabrics are so darling, they wold look great on my three year old granddaughter,(9-19), some cute sun dresses.
the boy fabrics are adorable also, cute casa quilts
