Pink Chalk Team Sew-In

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that we had plans for a Sew-In at work to celebrate reaching the half-way point through our One Yard Wonders Sew Along. The team voted it as a unanimous choice over lunch at a fancy restaurant. And boy was it a lot more FUN!

The space we work in has beautiful natural light, a wide open floor layout and is all around just a pretty darn cheery place to be. I often say I wish I was rich enough to just rent this space as my sewing studio. We had an amazing time sewing here. I think it was all the more decadent because we sewed during work.

A new goal on my list is to grow the business big enough where everyday it was someone’s ‘job’ to sew all day creating samples, pattern reviews and new designs to inspire our customers. Always DREAM BIG!

All the images from the mosaic are in our Pink Chalk Team Sew-In set on Flickr. Here’s a run down of everyone’s project (and yes I was there but I had the camera!):

Diana – Betz White Sidekick Sling bag using Jessica Jones Outside Oslo fabrics on the outside and Anna Maria Horner Loulouthi for the lining. Grommets are now available in the shop, we found grommets that work (they’re not Dritz).

Janis – Betz White Sidekick Sling bag using Japanese Decor Weight Linens lined with Kona Cotton.

Carrie – Atkinson Designs Zippy Strippy zippered pouches. A great scrap buster project!

Jo – Lazy Girl Designs Runaround Bag using pieces from the scrap bin. She thought the zipper was a breeze!

Alicia – Kwik Sew 2954 Wrap Skirt – Kwik Sew calls this a Learn to Sew pattern. This is Alicia’s second one!

Tracy – Kwik Sew 3775 Toddlers’ Dresses. She pieced the bottom band.

Jacqui – Colette Patterns Violet Blouse with fabric from her stash.

Cindy – Blue Underground Green Glass Door quilt pattern.

Melissa – Make It Perfect Versatile Wrap Skirt using a Sandi Henderson print which we’ve since sold out of (the new collection from Sandi is due early next month). Melissa wore her skirt to her birthday dinner that evening!

Kathy – Sew Serendipity Camilla Insulated Bag using Anna Maria Horner Loulouthi Laminated Cotton

I would love to quilt and sew with a group. Maybe next fall I will see about getting a group together in my area.

What fun! I wish I had a job that cool. I’m sure in the old days all of the (male) engineers that I worked with would’ve run in the other direction if I’d mentioned sewing! It was definitely restaurant lunches!

Hey, that’s *my* idea – I would love to have that dream job (sewing up samples!). I really just love to sew, doesn’t matter what, and I love learning new techniques, but I really don’t need or have room for everything I turn out. That’s actually what started my little shop on etsy (click my name to go to it!) – I was trying to figure out what to do with all the stuff I make! But, hey, if Hancocks or Hobby Lobby, or my fave online shop…Pink Chalk, made me an offer…I just don’t see how I could refuse!

Y’all look like you had SEW MUCH FUN!!
