I’m getting ready to launch a new idea and I need your help. Dust off your best, most useful, unbelievably clever sewing tips. Write them up all pretty, put a bow on top, (a hi-res picture would be amazing but is not required) and send them to my attention: kathy {at} pinkchalkfabrics {dot} com.
I’ll select one idea a week to feature in the Pink Chalk Fabrics newsletter and here on the blog. If we use your idea you’ll receive a $25 Pink Chalk Fabrics Gift Certificate along with attribution and a link to your blog/website/shop. Yes, good sewing tips are that valuable!
I have no idea what to expect as far as a response. My hope is there will be ongoing participation and entries. I plan to keep whatever tips you send in so I always have a pool to select from. If your idea isn’t selected immediately it may be featured down the road.
Bonus work for Wordsmiths: I haven’t decided on a name yet for the weekly feature. Give me your best in the comments. Same deal: $25 gift certificate if your idea is used.
Please leave any questions in the comments and I’ll answer them.
Thank you!

Goodness, I can’t even name my own quilts. I’m gonna need a few minutes…..
Ha, I have the same problem Krista, that’s why I’m putting it out for hire!
Can you give us some direction? Would you like fun, classy, puns…Here’s a few for you to critique:
The chalkboard
Pink Chalk Talk
Pinkie Promises (and then something about the best tips around)
Hip Tips
Big Tipsters
Exactly what I’m looking for Duff. The Chalkboard has been on my back burner for sometime, it’s yet another idea I need to get launched
Love “The Chalkboard”!
Kathy, Can the tips be from another source and still count? For example, I’m currently using some tips that I got from other sources that are really helpful and I would like to submit those.
Belinda,
I think the most important thing is that the tip is something that you do and it’s written using your own words.
I would say most of the things we’ve all learned about sewing come from another source be it a grandmother, sewing friend, online source, or a blog.
On a legal front, copyright does not extend to techniques or ideas. It does apply to the words people have written to describe or teach something.
Thanks for the question!
Kathy

Hope this doesn’t double post!
What about Tip Talk, Tipsy Tuesday, Sew Easy Tips, Make it sew easy? It’s tougher than it sounded!
But worth a shot!
I vote for keeping it simple. If it’s going to be in the weekly newsletter, call it – This Weeks’ Sewing Tip.
Pink Chalk Pointers. Pink Pointer of the Week. Something Pointers. Pointer Somethings. Gosh — I’m definitely NOT a wordsmith! Sounds like fun though!
sounds like a fun idea! i’m terrible at naming things, but here are my feeble attempts… pink chalk symposium, pink chalk tip talk, tip day monday (or whatever day of the week the newsletter goes out).
Great idea Kathy!
b.
Sounds like a wonderful idea
How about “Chalk It Up”….
Pinkie Tips. Or is that too cutsie? From the Tip Jar. Something with the word Sewists in it since that seems to be a nicely Pink Chalk term… Tips for Sewists.
I like Kristin’s idea with the Tip Jar.
Why not the sewist’s tip jar? It’s simple and says it all.
So: My vote for Kristin’s suggestion!
Pink Chalk Talk was my only idea and I see it’s been used. I’ll try to submit an idea for you–this sounds like a lot of fun.
How about “Sew I am a big tipper”
How about: “Tension Prevention: Sewing tips to make your life easier”
how about “types on tuesday” or “tuesday tips”
PCF’s Sew How or just Sew How
something easy like Chalkboard Tips
love some of the other ideas!
Sew, what about like this?
Tips, Tricks and Timesavers
What a wonderful idea, Kathy, sharing good tips. I will have to think about one or maybe two.
My name for this event would be something like
*World Wide Sewing Tips* (the abbreviation doesn’t sound bad either: wwst)
I chose this name, to indicate that people from all over the world have valuable tips for us to use! It’s what blogging and sharing is about.
If you want the name to be connected to your shop/blog, you might consider the following name:
*Pink Chalk’s World Wide Sewing Tips.
Have a lovely day!
is this so you can write a book that we dont get credit for ?
these prints are gorgeous!!!
I usually post my tips in my blog, is it okay to send you something we’ve already posted?
Absolutely Becky! Thank you, Kathy
How about Think Pink Ideas.
Oh my gosh, I am still having my morning coffee, can not quite think yet past “Chalk Talk Tips”, But I do love love love that fabric collection picture, yummy!!
“Chalk It Up To Experience!”
Chalk dust.
ROFL Joelle! xo Kathy
Hello,
Great idea. I love sewing tips. Sometimes the simplest thing can make a big difference. How about
“Pink Chalk Perk.” Just a thought.
How about Chalk Talk as a name for your weekly feature of sewing tips?
Good luck. I look forward to reading the sewing tips. Will put my thinking cap on what tips I use that might help others. 50 years of sewing should produce a few, wouldn’t one think??
My feeble attempts are below for names.

BTW, the blog post title would work nicely if it’s not too long–
Help Wanted: Sewing Tipsters
I had a few ideas right away that seem to be here already… So how ’bout Pink Pointers?
I like all the previouse suggestions. Here’s one that has no Pink or Chalk in it – Sew Right. Kathie L in Allentown
How about calling your sewing tips section, “It’s Sew Easy!” Then you could have a tag line below it that says, “Why didn’t I think of that?!”
How about “Chalk Marks”?
[...] off, thank you for the fabulous naming ideas. We’ve been throwing them around all morning. Choosing is going to be difficult. Please keep [...]
How about sew tipsy? Ok, I just read “If there are ice cream trucks for kids why aren’t there margarita trucks for adults?” See where my mind is. And of course my best tip is to have a glass of wine before free motion quilting! Most folks are too tense to let go. Another thought for a title is Studiotalk with studio and talk in different fonts, In the seams or Pink Chalk Notes. Best of luck!
Great idea ! Lots of good suggestions…..

This is such a fun idea. I love picking up tips and tricks from other sewists out there in blogland.

It’s late and I guess I’m not that creative!
Or….Sew Smart
I have not read all comments so if these have been suggested please forgive me. I was thinking Chalk Talk or Pink Chalk Talk. Or Chalk Tips or of course Pink Chalk Tips. I guess i was thinking simple and to the point. I will keep thinking. Thanks for the brain challenge!
How about “Tips from the Studio”. I liked “Pink Chalk Tip Talk” too but I think someone might have said that already?
Great idea Kathy. I already enjoy your newsletter and blog – tips would be an added bonus.
People have already come up with some fab ideas for feature names. I’d like to add ‘Studio Snippets’ to the mix
How about “Tips & Points” ?
Here I thought I was original with my “Chalk Talk” but…noooooo, I see that not one, but TWO other entrants have beat me to the punch! Ah, well.
Then there’s “When the dust settles…”
or “Sew, what’s new?”
or “Sew, plain and fancy”
“Pink’s Tips & Tricks for young and old” (yeah, I’m not big on that one either, but that’s what I typed)
Love that you’ve opened it up to your audience, and maybe one day, I’ll have a tip to share!
what a great idea…..first thing that came to mind – sew fab tips!
Another suggestion.
With the help of Joelle Lambert’s name, I thought of
