I’m way overdue on updating my blog theme. I’ve wanted threaded comments FOREVER and this afternoon I decided I just had to have them, like right now. I’m extremely impatient about doing it correctly so instead I’m doing it live. The WordPress upgrade seems to have broken a few things separate from the new theme. I did do a full back up so I’m not totally freaked out (yet!) Just wanted to let you know I broke the store

Ooh, that’s going to be a pretty quilt!
please tell us what this is going to be – is it a d. schmidt design, too? i have to decide what to do with mine!
It’s the cog + wheel quilt by Denyse Schmidt, once I get a few more things fixed I’ll show the whole quilt!
threaded comments are cool…(so is that quilt you’re working on!)
Thank you Tammie, I’m loving how my little picture shows up next to my replies
Ohhhhh! You made me laugh so hard! At least you didn’t break the INTERNET! Now THAT would be bad! LOL!
If it was possible I’d end up accidentally breaking that too. The store was literally broke several weeks ago but that was a bad fan on the server and not related to my tinkering!
Love this pattern and anything Denyse Schmidt. What do you use for the plain background fabric? I have been trying to find a really nice white that isn’t too flimsy. Thanks…
I made this quilt exactly like the cover of the pattern. Denyse Schmidt gives the color formula for using the Hope Valley prints and specifies Bone for the Kona cotton color.
This is VERY interesting because I’ve never used Bone. I stocked it for the shop last month after a customer requested it.
My preference for off-white has always been Snow which I find to be a very creamy and soft white. Recently I’ve also started experimenting with Eggshell which is definitely a shade darker than Snow but still very, very creamy in tone.
I would describe Bone as a matte, off-white color. It strikes me as being more stark. I absolutely loved using it in this quilt because it matches the off-white in the Hope Valley collection to a T while at the same time sitting in the background while the prints took center stage.
I also sell A LOT of White Kona Cotton in the shop. It’s a beautiful clear white that works whenever you want that total, cool, bright white.
I want threaded comments too. Is it a widget I can install or do I have to tweak a theme that has them?
OK, this is SO COOL, LOVING the threaded comments!
Threaded Comments are a base feature of WordPress now. I don’t know which version introduced the feature (it used to be a plugin) but I just upgraded my WordPress software to 2.9.2 (I was at 2.6).
The problem for me was that even though WordPress supports the feature, my WordPress theme (MistyLook) did not!
I’m going to write my next post on this subject just to share in case anyone is interested. Stay tuned!
Many thanks! (Oh, this is fun!)
I use kona bone a lot for applique background fabric . Its truly a great choice for reproducing antique quilts…just mho.
I also use it in pieced quilts too! its a great color that goes with all my reproduction fabrics.
Can’t wait to see more of what your working on
Kathie
I can definitely see that after using it with the Hope Valley fabrics. It’s a wonderful background that doesn’t overpower the subtle colors of vintage colors.
Loving the new look for the blog! The quilt front looks terrific, you really are such a talent. ox
obviously like your web-site however you need to check the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling issues and I find it very troublesome to inform the truth then again I will surely come back again.
