I received two lovely books in the mail from publisher Stewart, Tabori & Chang. Sometimes that happens, I just receive books out of the blue. I love giving them away here.

I also enjoy reviewing them but the whole 9 days left to Christmas thing has me in a bit of a panic so let’s just do the giveway part today!

A description of Kata Golda’s Hand-Stitched Felt from the publisher:
Ranging from children’s finger puppets and a tooth-fairy pillow to photo “brag” books, messenger bags, and curtains and blankets, most of these projects can be completed in an hour or less. They are made from basic shapes of wool felt sewn together and customized with unique details, all using simple, large stitches. Step-by-step instructions and templates, along with adorable photos and hand-drawn illustrations, make each project simple to replicate. Playful tutorials, such as how to personalize projects with a variety of facial expressions, add to the charm of this delightful book.
Kata Golda is the creator of a line of hand-stitched felt items that she makes and sells with the help of nine other women out of her home in Port Townsend, Washington. Her creations are available in high-end stores and boutiques, including ABC Carpet, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, and Kate’s Paperie. Visit her website at www.katagolda.com

My favorite idea in the book, a pencil roll for finger puppets!

In addition to the new books we’ve also been receiving a continuous flow of beautiful fabrics plus discovering some interesting things as we tidy up the shop for the new year. This giveaway will include 17 different prizes:
- Kata Golda’s Hand-Stitched Felt – 25 Whimsical Sewing Projects
- 4 sets of 4 quarters each from Rosalie Quinlan’s new collection Grandmother’s Flower Garden for Japanese manufacturer Lecien. Melly & Me also released 6 new patterns this month (Dahlia, Giddy-Up, Lantern Strings, Leon, Little Miss Mouse, My Folio & Folio Jr.). Amazing women!
- 12 Odyssea by MoMo charm packs. Little mix up on our end, these never made it into the shop inventory and we’re making way for new things so enjoy these cuties!
I’m going to make this a quick event. I’ll draw a winner Friday morning. Leave a comment telling me what sewing item you want Santa to bring. Winners announced, congratulations!

Be the first to know: I’m going to wrap up (ha, ha) this holiday giveaway thing with a REALLY BIG ONE on Monday, December 21. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. The comments will only be open for one day so be ready!

I’ve been hinting for a gift certificate from Pink Chalk Fabrics.
Great giveaway, and can’t wait to see what Monday brings! I’d really like Santa to bring me a range of Kona solids.
A new pair of scissors and maybe a good stitch ripper!
I’m hoping that Santa will bring me a gift certificate from my favorite fabric store! I’ve left the computer opened to the Pink Chalk fabric website so often that I think the image is burned into my monitor – hopefully Santa gets the hint!
Ooh, Santa, I’ve been so good this year! I’d love an Oddysea charm pack!
I would like santa to be me lots of creative ideas so I can use up some of my crafting stash… Perhaps a book or two…
I’m hoping for some yummy Meadowsweet fabric. Or Material Obsession II. Love that Aussie style!
I am hoping for a nice big peg board above my work table, so I can hang everything up & have it in plain site. And if I’ve been really good, I want a big piece of fiber board that I will cover w/ a flannel sheet & mount as a permanent design board.
I want a new sewing machine, please please please…
I would like Santa to bring me some new fabric and some cutting squares.
Dear Santa,
What I really really really really want is a nice big box of time and that awesome Twinkle Sews by Wenlan Chia.
How’s Vixen?
Charlotte~
I’d LOVE an Airstream for Christmas, but if that can’t happen, I could use some more yarn and a kitty cat. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’ve asked for time and energy. Need both to get things done. If he can’t swing that, some nice fabric would be a-okay with me. Anything more is gravy.
I am wishing for the BSR attachment for my Bernie (Bernina). I know it might be tough for Santa to swing it with this economy because it’s quite expensive, so I would be equally happy with a few of the new sewing/quilting books that have come out!
I’m hoping for some pre-cut hexagons for paper piecing this Christmas. Yay for portable sewing!
Santa should really really bring me a gift certificate for my favorite fabric store. It’s so much fun to go and pick out your favorites.
I’d love for Santa to bring me a fully stock, beautifully organized, well lit studio. I fear I may have been a bit too naughty for such wonderfulness so I’d happily settle for a new iron. One that has a way to coil the cord neatly or perhaps retract it. Iron cords drive me nuts!
Santa should bring me some more time so I can learn to sew! And maybe a sewing machine too!
I really want a bobbin winder. Not glamorous, I know, but I really want it!
I would love Santa to bring me organization skills! I have a problem with keeping my supplies tidy. I always have to look for things.
I would love it if Santa brought me a very large cutting mat for Christmas! That would be tops!
A pair of pinking shears would be very welcome. Or some fancy-dancy embroidery scissors.
Such nice giveaways lately. Thank you! I would like fabric, lots and lots.!
I think my santa is upgrading my sewing machine!
Oh, so many comments already. I’d love for Santa to bring me some Japanese fabrics, but what I’d really really be thrilled with would be a new armoire to store the existing stash in, or a bigger sewing room.
I just want fabric, fabric, fabric! Scraps and yards and bundles. Love flannel dots, Nicey Jane, Heather Ross, you name it, I want it.
I want Santa to bring me every color of Kona cotton solid they make! Please, Santa!!!
Oh my! What to choose as my wish from Santa? I know! A giant stack of Japanese fabric! I LOVE those tiny characters!!! :0)

the kata golda book is so sweet! my darling daughter asked santa to bring mommy some fabric… the girl knows what I like!
I’d love Santa to bring me room to sew. I had to put away my machines so we have room for Christmas dinner!
One of the Momo charm packs would be sweet!
I’ve asked Santa to bring me a completed thesis thereby providing me with TIME to sew…lol…and a large number of any of the amazing fabric lines that came out this year. Thanks for the giveaway Kathy!
My scissors are killing me! I need a new one!
Santa is welcome to bring me more fabric.
In my heart of hearts, I want an overlocker. Honestly though, I would love gift cards to fabric stores or even something as simple as a bias tape maker.
I need time and room, but for now batting would do–I have tons of fabric and want to quilt it all!
I’d love some pretty fabric to begin my first quilt.
I would like Santa to help me set up a website for my fledgling handmade items business. I want to share my projects with others, and all the fun I am having.
I’m trying to kick this fabric addiction I have…but Dear Santa, I want more!
On my list…more fabric!
I would love to get a thread/spool holder! I would like one to hold many dozens of colored spools, so they could all be arranged by color, and make them easy to find, and no tangling…and charm packs because I have made up a new way to make reversible table sets with those..They are darling, and make nice gifts. Thanks for the opportunity!
Santa’s bringing me a new DSLR!
Well, I don’t need any more fabric for awhile, but I certainly wouldn’t turn it down, either. I Heart Patchwork is on my list, though.
I am in dire need of a new makeup bag!
What a great looking book! I bet my little friends would have a blast sewing the little felt finger puppets.
I’m hoping to get an embroidery attachment for my sewing machine but I’ll settle for a circular sewing foot in a pinch. I have some ideas for a couple art quilts.
well my Santa gave me my brand new Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 850 for my birthday earlier this year so she…i mean he may repackage it but other than that i think a couple of aunts may give me gift cards
PS Thank you Ma!
I would like Santa to bring me a 11 mo. old child that SLEEPS thru the night…. That way I would have more energy to finish all the things I need to do!
