Sewing Pattern Review: BB Bags by Brookshier Design Studio

Tracy (part of the Pink Chalk Fabrics team) created this fabulous project using the BB Bags pattern by Mickey Beebe for Brookshier Design Studio. Here’s her review:

What a fun little bag to sew and to use!

I chose to make the middle sized bag on the BB Bags pattern. The pattern includes Teeny and Big Bag sizes, this middle one is called the Traveler (finished size is 6″ L x 5 3/4″ W). It has room for a passport, cell phone, cash, credit cards, and other essentials. Two of the five pockets are zippered for security. One is generously pleated for space.

I added a magnetic snap on the front for more security.

The pattern was quick and so easy to follow! The instructions, pattern pieces, and illustrations are all accurate and clear. I went with the suggestion to cut strips the width of all the pieces (5 1/2″ in the case of the Traveler) then trace around the curve for each individual piece.

The fabrics, from the Authentic collection by Sweetwater for Moda, are lots of fun. I plan to make a second bag this week for a friend. I’m going to use one of the darker fabrics in the collection for the binding and strap to give it a bit more contrast.

A fun, rewarding project!

Me again, I’m in LOVE with this cutie. Seeing it made up gave me an appreciation for the pocket design and all the little details that give the bag that Wow factor. I’m pretty sure I said that exact phrase when Tracy brought it by yesterday. Thank you for the inspiration Tracy!

This is so cute! I honestly wouldn’t have given the pattern a second glimpse because I don’t like the fabrics they choose, but the bag with these fabrics are great!

Thank you for the review. I will definately give this bag a try. I look forward to seeing the bag with dark trim. I really like the “Sweetwater” fabrics. I can also think of some other fabrics I’d like to try. I will add this to my list of items to make!

Hiya! I know this is kinda off topic nevertheless I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa? My website discusses a lot of the same subjects as yours and I think we could greatly benefit from each other. If you happen to be interested feel free to send me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Superb blog by the way!

Reviewing information brought here I get to some important assumptions. I’d like to value the effort incurred in publishing.
