I’m going to wrap things up with photos of the other big thing that happens at Quilt Market: meet ups with online friends.

Yippeee! I finally got to meet Linda of CraftApple. Linda and I began our pattern publishing adventures at the same time. We each tested the other’s first pattern. No cell phones were needed, we ran right into each other on Saturday morning. I could have stayed and visited all day long.

Late on Sunday I got lucky and found Pokey Bolton in the Quilting Arts booth. Her boundless energy and creative passion is infectious!

My best friend in the whole world Jone Hallmark. Jone and her mother drove up from Austin for the day and we sure had a good time. We’re standing in front of a sample quilt (on the left) made with Jone’s Baby Toiles collection for Free Spirit. Jone has a blog now so be sure to say hello!

Susan Brubaker Knapp had lots to celebrate at market. She did a signing in the C&T booth for her new book Applique Petal Party. She also has TWO pieces featured in the Quilting Arts 2010 calendar including the cover.
Back to that Sunday night dinner. There were seven of us total including Windham designers Jessica Levitt and Paige Stanley Miller, Susan Brubaker Knapp, quilt artist Sarah Vedeler, Kim Kight of True Up (another long time e-mail friend, it was so fabulous to finally meet in person!), and my mom and me. You’d think with all those bloggers at the same table someone would have thought to take a picture! I really enjoyed the opportunity to spend a fun evening with all these creative women. It was a great way to spend our final evening in Houston.

I created a Quilt Market Fall 2009 set on Flickr to round up all the photos.

How fun to have a chance to meet up with so many wonderful people!

Wow! Looks like you had such a great time!
Your mom took a great picture! Mine didn’t turn out so well so I couldn’t bring myself to post it. So wonderful to meet you both. I was thrilled that mom noticed my bag (that always makes my day).
I can’t imagine the struggle to pick which fabrics to carry – there really were a ton of new lines.
I wish I could attend the quilt market. I have seen so many wonderful pictures from different bloggers that I think I am kind of caught up with what was there. Thank you for sharing.
I was hoping for a picture of you and your mom. Glad you had such a great time at the Quilt show. Just saying….today’s my BD so if you’re pulling names from a box I’m thinking mine should be the one.
How fun! Was this the best part for you. How neat to be friends and never have seen each other.
Seeing all the fun pictures from Market makes me wish I could be there! Thanks for all the great photos & links. So many talented & amazing poeple!
How fun to get to spend sometime with your online friends! I’m always so impressed with what a great craft community I’ve found online and would feel very honoured to spend time with them in the real world.

Wow! I just scrolled down to catch-up on all the new fabrics. The Alexander Henry display sure is interesting! I can’t believe how much work goes into Quilt Market. Thanks for showing us around!
Thanks for all your posts on quilt market. I really like how you divided it up and your commentary. It made reading and understanding the whole thing much easier. I especially loved your info on the Alexander Henry company. They always seemed different in their designs and now I know why and a little of how they operate.
I LOVE YOU, Kathy!
Miss you and may have to break down and CALL YOU!
Enjoyed all your posts from Market…Saw Susan B. Knapp’s studio in the new issue of “Studios”
That’s a pretty good photo of us, my friend!
xoxoxoxoxo always!!!!
Oh no! I wish I’d thought to come looking for you. I wasn’t thinking of the Market at all when a friend suggested we go on Sunday. (I live in Houston now.) We mainly went for the exhibit, which was awesome beyond words.
Looks like you had a good time. Hope to see you next time around!
BTW, love the new tagline, too. (Which may be an old tagline. I’m a little behind the times.)
