Quilt Market Fall 2009 – Patterns

A first time quilt market vendor, Emily Cier showcased her fabulous Carolina Patchworks pattern collection. Fun designs that use a lot of pre-cuts and solids.

LOVED this modern take on a Dear Jane quilt, Emily named hers Uptown Girl.

Lucy Morey with her Hot Scott pattern line, designed just for boys! Her first titles include bermuda shorts, cargo pants, appliques, boy bags and a cap. Fun, fresh, and fabulous!

Tracey Brookshier of Brookshier Design Studio. She’s laughing in the second photo because I made her model the new Cruzer and Little Cru bag showing how you could carry it both as a backpack and as a tote.

Tracey has been a very generous mentor to me in the pattern design world so I always enjoy getting to see her at market. I absolutely LOVE the direction she’s taken her company by expanding her titles to include designs by other talented artists. This year she added a line of bags by Mackerilla Design, a Santa Cruz designer that makes and sells bags. You can tell the designs have been well tested for years, the details including pockets, handles, zippers and proportions were absolutely perfect. All of these new titles will be arriving in the shop soon.

Beautiful samples in the Oliver + S booth. This time I took a detailed shot of each outfit which you can see on the Flickr group. Very inspiring!

The gorgeous Kay Whitt of Serendipity Studio wearing my favorite new pattern the Stella Strip Skirt. Kay’s booth is a mountain of inspiration. She makes up samples of her new designs in at least 3 or 4 or 10 (or so it seems!) fabric combinations. Her skirt looks just as cute in these Fig Tree fabrics as it does in a bright floral or a solid (see the 3 samples hanging behind her).

I think that’s a good run down of what’s new and exciting in the pattern world. Look for the patterns to hit the shop in the coming weeks. I don’t do much shop talk on the blog anymore so be sure you’re signed up for the Pink Chalk Fabrics Newsletter to keep in the know.

I am so, so excited to learn of a little boys clothing line! I hope you’ll be carrying a selection of them, because I have a little boy in my life that I really need to sew something other than pajama pants for.

I’m so excited to see the new Oliver + S patterns. And I like the Stella Strip skirt! especially the version hanging in the upper right-hand corner of your picture — it has the same neat effect of a pleated skirt without looking cheerleader-y. Very nice.

The Hot Scott pattern line looks great. There are not too many patterns out there for boys. I find myself making so many things for my girls but being stumped when wanting to make something for my boys.

I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that Oliver + S will design something in my size. I don’t have any kids but sure do love their patterns.
