Quilt Market Fall 2009 - Melly & Me + Lecien
Oct 15th, 2009 by Kathy

A sneak photo of Rosalie Quinlan showing off Grandmother’s Flower Garden in the Lecien booth. Jen McLean (Tula Pink) on the far right. Rosie has lots of inspired creations using the new fabrics on her blog.

Rosie gave me a personal tour of the new collection. I have to mention that she radiated a kindness and beauty that was so truly genuine I’m still feeling the good vibes. She’s doing exactly what she was sent here to do and it’s spectacular.

A snippet pic of Melly Hurlston working the Melly & me booth. The samples in the booth were fabulous. Non-stop goodness.

Samples from Melly’s book Kaleidoscope.

Amazing detail!

I created a Quilt Market Fall 2009 set on Flickr to round up all the photos. Click over to see more detail. I tried to take a lot of up close photos of projects in the booths for inspiration. All pictures have now been added. They’re all wacky in terms of the order and I have absolutely no idea how to fix that!

that doll house quilt is just amazing!
Oh how I would love to see that quilt in person
How cute that would be to have hanging in a little girls room
, my oldest is 21 and she would love it!
Kathie

I keep hoping Melly or Rosie will answer my emails and adopt me
I can not believe the cuteness of the doll house quilt!
I went to Rosalie’s schoolhouse with Lecien and it was just to die for! Her fabric is fantastic! Stopping by their booth was just a feast for your eyes. Boy, these two girls can create some real beauty. It is so hard to say which creation is a favorite too.

WOW! That Doll house quilt is Amazing!!! Great pictures!
I love Melly and Rosalie!
Wow, so much goodness! I love the stuffed giraffes in the second photo!
that dollhouse quilt is incredible. Is it me, or did it seem that more fabrics were gender neutral or even possibly more ‘boy’ friendly than before? From you photos above, I can see some colourways that could be more boy friendly. Thank goodness!!
Wow- gorgeous stuff! Thanks for posting about Melly’s book- I just looked at it and it is really cute. Terrific projects.
Beautiful pictures. I like how you got up close and personal with the quilts so we can see them. Thanks!

WOW! I love the Melly and Me booth! These are the first pics I’ve seen of it. Thank you so much for sharing them!
So many different things to see…I really must make it to market one day. Your stories always give me such an appreciation for the designers themselves…fabric is no longer just fabric. Also, I wasn’t sure that I would ever say this but, I’m loving that quilt with the matroyshka doll panels.
aaak! love Melly & Me - still have to try my hand at some of those delightful patterns!
That dollhouse quilt is amazing! Someone spent a zillions hours on that!!! And the monkey in the room…fantastic!

that doll house quilt just melts my heart…….thanks for taking us along to Houston. Loved every minute of it. XXX Annie
I love all the photos of your trip…it’s almost like I was there! I am so in love with all of the rich, saturated colors that are out right now. I follow Anna Maria Horner’s blog and have seen snippets of her new line, but it’s nice to see it large and made into projects. Wondering - is laminated cotton a new trend, or has it been around for a while and I haven’t noticed it? Is it similar to oilcloth? Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
This post includes some of my favorite designers and great photos of their creations! Thanks Kathy!
Thanks so much for posting all of these pictures! For those of us who never make it to Texas, it’s wonderful to see what’s new!

I love the colors. I’m currently shopping for some nursery fabric - our first baby is due in March - and have loved a lot of what I’ve seen in these posts from the Quilt Market. I’m looking for something gender neutral (we aren’t finding out the sex) but cute, but not overly baby. Thanks for giving me some more to think about!
