The Gather Up Pillow (12″ x 16″) is a cute little project I designed for Brewer Quilting & Sewing Supply (a distributor that carries the Pink Chalk Studio pattern line). They were the first to pick me up, an event I still do back flips over!
I work really well with deadlines and fixed requirements. The deadline was Spring Quilt Market and the assignment was creating a project to showcase the gorgeous Dupioni Silk they wholesale.
This is a quick project to whip up and works equally fabulous with quilting cottons. You could even skip the gathering and just piece the front. And what about mixing wool, silk, cotton, and vintage finds! I love, love, love the envelope back. Instant gratification.

OK, so why did it take me so long to share this? I’m trying to figure that out myself. I think I had plans to make these up in a million different combos before sharing. In fact, I’m thinking about that right now. But you know what? That just isn’t going to happen. I’m asking you to go forth and create, post them to the Pink Chalk Studio Flickr group and then I’ll share your beautiful work.
Download the Gather Up Pillow PDF here. If you’re an independent retail fabric shop you can print these patterns, kit them, teach a class, or give them away to your customers. Please do not distribute the pattern online (linking to my download and using my pictures is absolutely A-OK!). If you want to make the pillows and sell them that’s fine too. Please give a nod to Pink Chalk Studio for the design if you list them online.
Happy Sewing! xo Kathy

Thank you for sharing this pattern! Your pillow is gorgeous in those silks! I know what I’ll be making my mom for Christmas now!
How generous you are, as always! What a beautiful pillow – if I ever bring myself to pay for dupioni silk, I’ll give a similar one a whirl – in the meantime, I may try it with something from my stash.
Cute Kathy!! Thanks for sharing

very cute… why did it take you so long to share?… lol!!
Very pretty!
Cute pattern… I made my granddaughter a silk dupioni dress to wear to the Temple to be sealed to her parents (my daughter and her hubby) in. It turned out sweet… Nothing like it… it makes up really nice!
I just wanted to say thanks for the pattern! My mom came over yesterday and made me a couple of these pillows for my craft room. I already have plans for matching pillows for each season! Your pattern was a dream to follow (and you were right about the whole gathering thing… she was going a little batty at that part of the project)!
You can go check out my new fabulous pillow on my blog today if you want!!!!
HUGS and thanks again! You are the bestest!
Very pretty! Thanks for sharing the pattern!

I’m impressed, I must say. Actually not often do I encounter a weblog that’s each educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the problem is something that not sufficient people are talking intelligently about. I’m very blissful that I stumbled across this in my search for something referring to this.
