I’ll warn you on the fabric booth photos, I just didn’t take enough. Totally, completely, absolutely did not get one picture of anything at Moda. Do search out pics on Flickr to see the new lines by MoMo, French General and Sweetwater. Lots of fun stuff coming our way this year.
The following is a gallery of quilts that were hung along the Free Spirit aisle. Available for download on the Free Spirit website. The Jennifer Paganelli Pretty Please quilt pattern is not on that page but can be downloaded here.
I’m either carrying or will be carrying all the collections below.
5/20/09: I’m updating this post to mention that Scott Hansen of Blue Nickel Studios designed the Monaco and Christmas Snow Flower quilts. Very nice!

Monaco by Dena Designs. I just LOVE this quilt. The contrast is fantastic, a great way to show off the saturated colors in this line.

Pretty Please, Flower Power, and Dance with Me (coming soon), 3 new collections by Jennifer Paganelli. I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer during my Free Spirit appointment. What a lovely person. She radiates pure joy.

Oh Boy! is a new fabric collection by David Walker (I sold out of Robots last December in about 10 minutes). I will say I think the individual fabrics are cuter than maybe this quilt shows off, I do like the way the animals were fussy cut and then quilted around in the blocks. The saturated red orange is fabulous.

Christmas Snow Flower by Dena Designs coming soon. Featuring a fantastic mixture of true red, green and sky blue. I’m really excited about the contemporary design of these traditional holiday motifs.

This sample quilt hits a home run in showcasing the Wildwood collection by Erin McMorris. This pattern is not on the Free Spirit website. Given it’s a great big Grandmother’s Flower Garden I did some searching for instructions on how you could machine piece hexagons. This Flickr discussion thread has links to some very good resources. As the discussion thread mentions at the bottom, there is a book called One Block Wonders which also came to mind when I saw this quilt. I think I’ll check that book out from the library to explore their piecing technique further. I want to go make this RIGHT NOW!

Love at first sight. The new Del Hi collection is fabulous. I always appreciate the beauty of Valori Wells’ sample quilts. They showcase her fabric collections perfectly. The detail of the quilting around the flowers in the design was amazing.

Those quilts are amazing, although the Christmas fabric/Star of David one was a bit odd…
I have never really liked hexagons – gasp – but I really really like the giant hexagon quilt in Wildwood fabric – love love love it! Thanks for the links!
Love the Christmas Snow Flower quilt!
What inspiration and beautiful, beautiful colors! What an amazing time you must have had!
I’m salivating over the Valeri Wells quilts. So beautiful and SO calling my name to be made.
The quilts are so marvelous. Attending a Quilt Market must be heavenly. Hmmm. Maybe I should just make plans to go.
Wow — are the Del Hi fabrics as yummy in person as they are on screen. I love that last picture. I am going to have to start corralling the kiddo’s recycling nickels to start saving for this collection.
I love it all!
That Oh Boy! quilt is just about the cutest thing ever. It’s always so hard to find good boy prints for quilts!
Happy Anniversary! Love all the Market photos.
I love the last quilt….how beautiful. Thank for you letting us in to Quilt Market this way.
Beautiful Quilts….love all the
vibrant fabrics ! My fav is Monaco.
Love your pics. It’s like being at Market.
The japanese threads – I have to see if you have those too!

The “Oh,Boy” line looks so fun!
Must….make…..quilts….now…….
Thank you for fueling my fire.
Inspirational! Now I need a quilting arm thingy. Love your site and love those fabrics and love free stuff.
My Mother-in-law always has a hexgon quilt on the go — but it’s hand stitched with paper backing!
And again with the stripes! Love it.
beautiful quilts!
The Del Hi collection is fabulous! I love, love, love it!
I really like the corner triangles in the David Walker quilt- some thing cool to try to keep it from being just plain ol’ sashed squares. And I LOVE the Erin McMorris quilt- great eye for pretty things to look at! Thanks for taking such pretty pics! And while the One Block Wonders book is very cool (I have a top almost finished from it), I don’t think the piecing will help making the gradmother’s garden squares. OBW uses rows of triangles to piece, i think…
The David Walker animal line is gorgeous: so bright and fun! I can totally see myself getting it to make my little guy a toddler quilt…. just need to make the time! And that Del Hi sample quilt….WOW! Really stunning.
I love the hexagon quilt too. Going to check out the links your shared
I’m definitely a fan of the Oh Boy quilt!
The hexagon quilt looks awesome, as do the others.
wow! so many quilts. some of them are so intricate, with their colors and patterns they enter into psychedelic!
I can’t wait to get my Valori Wells fabric. It is just fab.
Those are AMAZING!
I am also adoring the fabness of Valori Wells’ new fabric. And I have to get my hands on one of those T-shirts!
Your pictures from market are so wonderful, so many very beautiful quilts, the fabric is so vibrant. The simple patterns really show off the fabric.
thank you for the pictures, love to be there!!
Thanks for the giveaway!!
Wow, that last Del Hi quilt is amazing! Those fabrics are gorgeous.
Oh my, yet more beautiful fabrics! I must quilt!
I just love your blog. Inspiring. For a quilting homeschooling mom of 7, I need blogs like yours when I need to do quilty stuff without actually picking up a needle.
OH! Forgot. Thanks for taking me to Quilt Market. I felt like I was there.
these quilts are gorgeous! I can;’t imagine what they must look like in person!
Oh some of these new lines coming are out of this world! I love Wildwood. Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for the pics and commentary! I just can’t wait for the new lines and patterns to become available. What an amazing year 2009 has been. There are so many lines that I love. I’m saving my pennies! Thanks again!
I’m in love with the Del Hi fabrics! Thanks again for sharing your trip.
Free Spirit has always been a favortie of mine!
Those were some gorgeous quilts! I love the Grandmother’s garden quilt the best. I have been wanting to tackle one of those latley but I am fairly new to quilting.
Wow! That must have been amazing to be surrounded by so many beautiful quilts! Thank you for sharing.
I have to admit these are very busy for my taste. Thank you so much for posting all of these pictures from the show! It’s like being there…almost.
Gorgeous!!! I want to make the last one you posted right now!
Totally inspiring! I can’t wait to get started, the only problem is–where to begin. It’s tough to find interesting Chanukah quilts but I can imagine the Christmas Snow Flower in blues and whites and silver on my wall this winter. Thanks for all the great photos.
so lovely to meet you!!!!! Such a highlight for me!!! Pink Chalk is on the pulse…all my best kathy!!
I love that Erin McMorris quilt! And all of Jennifer’s new fabrics are just to die for as are the quilts! I don’t quilt (I make bags which are much smaller and quicker!) but if I did, I’d takle a few of those you highlighted! Thanks for posting such beautiful pieces!
Hi Kathy,
I don’t know if I just thought about it or if I left you a note thanking you for your quilt market posts, so if I haven’t, Thank-You!! Also, thank-you so much for your info on the flikr thread about sewing hexagons together! I just finished cutting out a 5 inch hex blanket for a friend for her birthday and I’m using the zig zag set in seam and it’s working like a charm, not nearly as fussy as I thought it would be. I know I don’t leave comments often, but just know I appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to help and share what you know!
