1 1/3 cups freshly squeezed Blood Orange Juice (about 6 oranges)
Juice of 1 lime
2/3 cup tequila
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
1/3 cup sugar
4 cups ice cubes
Mix together the first five ingredients.
Make the margaritas in two separate batches: Place two cups ice into a blender, pour over half the mixture. Pour into 2 salt-rimmed glasses. Repeat with the remaining mixture and ice cubes.
This version is adapted from Martha Stewart’s Grapefruit Margarita recipe (also an amazing treat). These are guaranteed to get you crocked so I recommend them for a Friday night at home!

That looks so good! I might have to try making one of these!
That looks delicious!!!! Can’t wait to try one.
What time should I be over?! YUM!!!
I’m coming over too — those look delish!!
Oh, good heavens. That’s a terribly tantalizing thing to show a girl while she’s still at work!
(And who knew that “tantalizing” had a second “a” in it?)
When I first saw this over on flickr I thought, now why does Kathy have tomato sauce in a margarita glass? This is so much better.
The color is amazing. What a fun spin on such a great beverage!
Yum!!! We’re loving the blood oranges right now. I know what I’m picking up at the farmer’s market for my next margarita.
Oh, I could use one of these today!
Dang! Wish I could have one of those… YUMMY
Oh yummm, I am heading over ;-p xoxoxo Clarice
Ummmm, are you reading my mind? I’ve been thinking about margs all day. This one sounds perfect. Thanks!
KATHY! Over the winter, a bartender told DH he’d make him blood orange margaritas if DH brought some blood oranges. And he hasn’t seen that bartender since, so thank you for sharing your recipe. Looks delicious!
It’s supposed to be warmish here this weekend. I foresee some tequila in my future.
Oh yum. Trust me to give up alcohol for Lent.
My husband actually saw this post first. I had brought up your blog and walked away from the computer. He said, “We should have this lady over, she makes the same drink we do.”
We also do what we call the squeezie squeezie, which is a lemon drop with blood orange instead.
Salt PLEASE!
We made these last night – They were amazing! Thanks for the recipe!
Made one this weekend – and learned I’m a tequila snob.
But the recipe is a keeper. Ironically, also had blood orange mojitos this weekend as well; also delicious!
I have never tried a blood orange before, but this looks delicious!
Now I’m going to have to go back to the market and pick up those blood oranges. This looks mighty tasty! Thanks for sharing the recipe Kathy
Just made one, and drinking it, and it’s DAMN good! Mine is on the rocks though:*)
