Laurie: We're getting a kick out of the inaccurate weather forecasts around here. We were supposed to get a big snow on Tuesday and the sun was out all day long. The next prediction was snow this weekend. Of course, with no warning, it started to snow early Thursday morning and it didn't stop.

Now we're frozen in. The roads are really amazing, completely covered with ice. We have a four wheel drive truck so I've continued to take my orders to the post office everyday but it's unbelievably quiet on the island, everyone is just staying at home. I'm definitely glad to have a project on the needles in case the power goes out!

I started the Clapotis scarf that several people recommended the last time I asked. I like the rhythm of the pattern although it seems like it's going to take me forever to finish it!

Mariah: Thanks for your note. Can't wait to see your Mail Sack! I need to make myself a new one but I can't decide on the fabric :)

Hi Kathy, Just wanted to say I was so happy to see the "Yipppeee!" at the end of your post referring to the kids getting out of school two days early. So many blogging moms lately seem to be dreading having their kids home. I well understand the stresses, but personally, I LOVE having my kids around and I'm so happy to see that someone else does too! I also LOVE the gift tags. I'm on the lookout for Yes! Paste today. Lots of fabric in the stash to make some cute tags. Haven't started my Christmas wrapping yet, so I'm all set. ;-) Have a wonderful Christmas! -Mariah (in San Francisco) PS I FINALLY got my mail sack made and I've made a couple more too. No pictures, alas, but I'll see what I can do.

On another note entirely, I read the Seattle Times this morning (on-line), and it sounds like you really need to batten down the hatches on Saturday. Hope all your trees stay upright, and you keep your power. Good heavens, one can't use the lovely sewing machine without power! (thank goodness for knitting needles and a YARN STASH----see the merit?). take care, and enjoy hunkering down!---Laurie

Have you tried using heat and bond. Iron it to the fabric then ironing the fabric to paper then cut out the shapes you want for tags. It might be less messy.
