Stitch is a brand new sewing magazine from Quilting Arts & Interweave Press. My copy arrived on Saturday and I devoured every bit of it. Product reviews, sewing tips, and an unbelievable round up of sewing projects. Simple skirts, lots of gift ideas, Lisa Congdon‘s signature Log Cabin pillow, and a quilt by one of my favorite bloggers Malka Dubrawsky.

The magazine even includes full-sized pattern pieces for some of the projects. The photography is top notch, absolutely beautiful.

The byline for the magazine is ‘Creating with Fabric & Thread’. I feel like they designed the content just for me. I like to sew lots of different things with a little patchwork thrown in for good measure. The layout is fresh and the content inspiring. While one could argue all sewing ideas are now available somewhere in the blogosphere there’s no substitue for sitting down in a comfy chair with a cup of hot tea and good magazine.
I do hope Stitch becomes an ongoing publication. I’m trying to find out what the plans are moving forward. This issue is labeled ‘Special Issue’.
You can order a copy on the Quilting Arts website (I got a 10% discount because I’m a Quilting Arts subscriber). Two patterns from the magazine and one web special project are available for free download.

that is such a pretty magazine! thanks so much for sharing!
Those skirts looks great! I need a copy of this!
oops look great!
I have got to get a subscription to this magazine!
My sister ordered this magazine for me for my birthday, and I too felt like the content was written just for me! I loved at least 80% of the projects. I hope the publishers make this into a regular publication (and not just tease us with this special issue).
Thanks for this, Kathy – I ran right over and ordered one – looks like some really great projects! Cheers!
I love interweave press. I’ll be looking for this next time I’m at the bookstore.
Hi Kathy, This magazine looks beautiful, I do need to get a copy for myself. I see a little peek of your day of the dead table runner you mentioned a few posts back. I just finished mine and it has that same great Alexander Henry fabric in it. You can see a photo of it at my blog.
That magazine looks great! Is there a pattern in it for the skirt on the cover? If so, I need to get my hands on a copy….that skirt looks too cute
Tine: that skirt is by Martha McQuade and it has a full-size pattern sheet in the magazine. It’s described as a classic wrap skirt with a modern twist. Incredibly cute!
This looks like a wonderful magazine. I need a new subscription since I canceled my AP&Q one.
That looks fabulous! Thanks for sharing. I hurried over and ordered a copy…hope the mailman brings it soon.
P.S. Pretty please, may we see the rest of the Dia de Los Muertos runner??
For everyone that asked about the table runner. I totally ran out of time on making one with my new design (I’m now focused on Thanksgiving!). The one in the picture can be viewed here:

I do believe a person can never have too many Dia De Los Muertos table runners though so it’s still on my to do list.
I can’t wait to find this one at the bookstore.Looks like theres lots of interesting things to make….
I am so excited about this! I just ordered a subscription for my excellent seamstress friend. I might have to get one for myself too.
Great stuff there!

[...] I received a lovely note from Tricia Waddell, Editor for Stitch magazine. She shared the news that the next issue of Stitch will be available May 12, 2009, with tentative plans for more issues if the first two issues sell well on the newsstands. So, go buy this magazine, I really want to see more. Here’s my review of it. [...]
I love so much that this magazine has full size clothing patterns in it!
Kathy,
Thanks so much for your nice review of Stitch and for mentioning my quilt. I’m so happy with the way it turned out.

So glad you had the scoop on when the next Stitch would be out! I found a copy last night and wished I could subscribe immediately. I hope it sells well so they make it monthly or at least every other month.
What a great magazine. Thanks for sharing. I ordered my copy and you can bet I will get the one in March too!
Thanks for the ideas you write about through your blog.
I precisely desired to say thanks once again. I do not know the things that I could possibly have made to happen without the tricks shared by you on my area of interest. It was actually an absolute frightful condition in my view, however , coming across a specialised mode you treated the issue took me to jump for delight. Now i’m happy for your service and then pray you really know what a powerful job that you’re accomplishing training the mediocre ones using your websites. More than likely you haven’t met all of us.
whoah this blog is wonderful i love reading your posts. Keep up the good work! You know, lots of people are searching around for this information, you could aid them greatly.
