Pencil Roll Pattern

I’m so excited to have this new Pencil Roll pattern out in time for holiday gift making. It ONLY happened because of the awesome group of testers that volunteered:

Tami – Lemon Tree Tales
Anita – Bake and Sew
Katrin – Grey&eugen
Louisa – knittylou on Flickr
Bekhy
Simon – Simon de Klerk
Jill – ZanderManda on Flickr
Sarah – greenclogs
Michele – Calico Daisy
Marianne

An absolutely fabulous group of women. I’m once again blown away by the inspired creative talent and professionalism of the people I have the pleasure to meet in this amazing blog world. I’m grateful for the outstanding feedback, clever ideas, serious work ethic, and tireless patience they all showed through the process. The quality of the instructions reflects the care they all contributed. Thank you!!!

So how does this pattern vary from the versions that appeared in Last Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts and Cloth, Paper, Scissors? The pattern includes instructions for both a 24-pocket version AND a 12-pocket model. Lots more illustrations and more verbose text with sewing tips for the tricky parts beef up the content of the instructions. More space for more detail. Yay! Based on a feature request from my own girls, you’ll find an optional safety-flap design too.

A reminder on pattern shipping: all single patterns always ship for the low price of $1 for US customers. Additional patterns are less. I LOVE carrying a ton of independent pattern designers in the shop. I wanted it to be easy to pick up a single pattern without robbing the kid’s piggy bank to pay for shipping.

Are you tired of giveaways? Me neither, let’s do some more!

The great thing about this giveaway is that you’ve already entered (yippeee!) if you’re a commenter in the past month, a Pink Chalk Fabrics newsletter subscriber, or a Pink Chalk Fabrics customer. The winners are:

Commenters: MamaChanga, Jeni, muralimanohar, Rashmi, Kyrie

Newsletter Subscribers: Grian, Carlie, Maria, Vicki, Eleanor

Customers: Stephanie, Dee, Heidi, Laura, Nicole

I’ll be sending e-mails to you all letting you know about the win (I didn’t want to publish full names of subscribers and customers).

Congratulations! Have a fabulous weekend everybody!

Thanks so much for making me a winner. I’m so excited to get this darling pattern and give it a try. By the way, as a customer I must say that your shipping was the fastest I’ve ever experienced. I’m doubly happy.

I made this for my son from the pattern in Joelle’s book and he loves it. He is five and uses it every day! I really like the addition of the safety flap to this one, I may have to improvise and add that to the one I already made. He does have a habit of carrying it the wrong way and dropping them! I may even try to work in a little pocket for a pencil sharpener in the flap. He is forever asking me to sharpen pencils!

Oh my goodness, I’m so excited to have won something, especially since I didn’t even know I was being entered (that made it even MORE exciting!). Thank you so much, I know Da’Gorgeouses will just LOVE you for it!

    Hugs & Blessings!

I don’t always have time to read all the articles in my RSS feed, but the picture on this was too cute! I can totally see my daughter using this- even though she’s 16. I totally love how the fabric colors match to the pencils. (I feel like I’m gushing but I can’t help it). Definitely on her Hannukah list!

I love those things. I’m bummed I missed out on the sign up to try it out. I guess I’m too cheap to buy a pattern, it’s something I always struggle with. I am self taught, plus all us quilting girls in these here parts share our patterns. It’s a cute idea! You are so creative!

Thanks for letting me test the pattern! I had a great time making it! It was fun to choose the fabrics for the patchwork. Thanks for making the pattern so user friendly. I feel like I learned a fair bit about sewing from your helpful tips. Thanks for sharing them in the pattern!

Saw a pic of this in “Last Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts,” and thought it was the cutest thing ever. I just posted a pic of the one I made for my boyfriend’s 6 year old for her bday on my blog. I didn’t have the pattern, so I made my own version, but I just love the idea!!! Thank you!
