Brewer Quilting & Sewing Supply is a wholesale distributor. I had the pleasure of meeting one of their pattern buyers at the Portland Quilt Market back in May. I handed over my patterns and crossed my fingers. They picked me up and I’ve been thanking my lucky stars ever since.
These Mail Sack bags and Note Takers are on their way to the Houston Quilt Market. If anyone happens to have a camera handy in the Brewer booth please take a picture so I can pretend I was there!

It was fun to spend so much focused time sewing over the last few days. I could sew all day, every day.

This mini Mail Sack has Sandi Henderson’s small wale corduroy on the outside. Very soft and snuggly, perfect for little girl hands to hug.

Tangerine Fresh Start from August Fields. Yummy.

I copied the idea to cover the Staples label on the notepad from Make It Snappy who posted her Note Taker on the Crafty Friends of Pink Chalk Studio Flickr group. I spray starched a piece of fabric, cut the fabric to 2″ x 8 1/2″ using a rotary cutter for super straight edges, used a glue stick along the cardboard top, gently positioned the fabric in place, wrapping it over the top and to the back. Too cute!

This Kokka fabric reminds me of the sheep that live across the street from me. Who remembers the Yarn Farm?

I like how tiny prints look on the Notelets.

I love your mail sack bag pattern, simply delightful!
Your samples look gorgeous – they are destined to do brilliantly at Houston. Covering the label on the notepad was a most inspired idea!
Congrats!!! I think that’s both awesome and well deserved. They’re beautiful.
Ditto what Lisa said! Love the corduroy – makes me want to try my hand at dyeing corduroy – just what I need, yet ANOTHER thing to do!
Yummy, yummy, yummy.
Gotta make me some too!
Geez, Kathy. Your stuff is just so gorgeous and professionally done. I simply love them all and am so excited to know you. I bragged about that at Joann’s the other day when I saw Quilting Arts Gifts and your projects in all their glossy, slicked up finery! They sold three magazines right then because of you! :0)
But why aren’t you at Quilt Market this time?
Gorgeous work!! And Congratulations!!!
lovely exhibition stuff – and congrats for your big deal! that’s the “price” you get for your hard work!
think you should start to sell signed copies of your patterns, all famous people give autographs, so you should, too! ^-^
And such beautiful little piggies they are, too! I’m sure they’re going to be a hit at Market. Best wishes!
gorgeous & eye pleasing. such perfection. you’re amazing!
Hi Kathy, I love your combination of fabrics and the highly professional results. Good luck at Quilt Market even if you aren’t going to be there in person.
Your posts are very motivating which keeps me coming back all the time to see what you’re up to. I’m so very happy for your success. Think of me as your “long distance, we’ll never meet, cheerleader”.
Eye candy…I am drooling~
I’m so happy for you! Love your patterns and shop! I’m planning to go to the Houston Quilt Festival. I’ll try to get a picture for you.
God how much I do adore looking at your pics!
Keep going to markets!!! Love them!!!!
oh how i LOVE the fabrics and oh those notebooks are to die for…i am a stationery nut and absolutely would die without all my little TO DO lists
those would be so perfect for jotting down all my many thoughts! love ‘em!
Love the bag! Wish I could go to the Houston festival this year but again my plans have bean thwarted. There is always next year I guess.
Hi Kathy, I’m looking for your email. Am I missing it? Anyhow, I had two questions for you. I am working on a twin bed sized quilt (first time I’ve done so large). The top is all pre-washed garment & quilting weight cottons. I am thinking of backing it with pre-washed flannel. First question: do you see a problem with using flannel vs. cotton? Secondly, I am thinking of tying it since I don’t have access to a long-arm sewing machine. Do you see any problem with that? Does tying hold up long-term? I am using lots of fabrics that have sentimental value and I want the quilt to last. Thanks, Kathy!
Paula: I’ve backed one quilt with flannel. I found it to be a little more challenging to work with as a fiber than regular quilting cotton. It tends to want to inch around ever so slightly while pinning and sewing.
I’ve read a few things lately about how much flannel shrinks. I pre-shrunk mine but have read that it really should be washed 3 or 4 times to fully shrink the fabric. I haven’t washed the quilt I backed with flannel so hopefully there’s not a big surprise waiting for me on that front!
Tying is an excellent way of finishing a quilt. It should hold up just as well as any other method of quilting.
Your quilt sounds really fun! Kathy
Those bags look fabulous! Congrats!
I just used this kokko fabric on Friday for a pair of cords that I embellished. Although I think the one I used is a bit more green. Everything looks beautiful Kathy.
I’ll look at market and try to get a photo! Sorry we won’t be seeing you there!
Hi Kathy,
I love your notebooks. Especially the one with those lovely sheeps on it. Now I know what to order next – I am a sheep-maniac. x;)
Love the notepad cover! Very nice.
Hi Kathy,
Congratulations on your patterns. I’ll be going to festival this year. I’ll look for your stuff and try to get a picture for you.
This was my first time to go to the Houston quilt festival. It didn’t register that market and festival were at different times with different booths. Brewer’s was long gone so, I was not able to get the picture for you. I am a novice at these things. I’m so sorry!
Heya i’m for the first time here. I found this board and I find It truly useful & it helped me out a lot. I hope to give something back and help others like you helped me.
