All I am able to say is wow! I really feel you have made valid and interesting things here and I concur. The difference between an excellent writer and a good writer is presentation. You're a great writer.

THANK you so much for posting your feelings/experience on the subject - you're hitting on the very same issues I am struggling with as a startup that hasn't started up yet. It is so good to benefit from the added depth that your experience can give to my "well, envelopes cost this....and um.... it takes 1/2 a yard of this but only if I use the stuff I got on sale....oh, shoot" approach. Please keep 'em coming!

(sorry, I'm late to the party here - I realize this was an older post but I'll catch up fast.)

Thank you so much for all of this information.I too buy at retail and love to use higher end fabrics and wondered if I could justify it.
Your posts have reconfirmed that I should keep doing what I love.

I agree on the not compromising by buying cheaper fabrics. In my personal sewing, I've always said that if I'm going to put the time and effort into creating something, I'm going to buy beautiful fabric. I feel the same for the things I am starting to sell.
