My friend Linda Johnston is a dedicated leader and volunteer in many sewing related organizations one of which is the Kitsap County Clothing and Textile Advisors. They are Master Sewists (think Master Gardeners). The organization is devoted to promoting sewing through community oriented activities. All those volunteers at the Sew Expo in Puyallup? Yep, you can thank CTA.
The Kitsap County CTA sponsors an annual fundrasier called the Sewing Room Faire. This year’s sale is being held on Friday, September 12 from noon to 6:00 pm at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
All fabric at the sale is sold by the pound. And that would be at the low price of $1 per pound. A very affordable stash building event!
You’ll find quilting cottons, vintage fabrics, upholstery remnants, lycra, wool, UFOs (not that any of us need somebody else’s
), books, patterns and notions. If it was sitting in someone’s sewing space unused you’ll find it here.
I love donating to the event because I know the materials will go to fellow crafters and the money made to a very worthwhile organization. And yes, a little guilt relief too! It also helps that Linda collects items for the sale all year long and she lives right around the corner from me.
Here’s the information from the flier:

Featuring free demonstrations, educational displays, pattern selection and fitting help, fantastic bargains on fabrics, patterns, notions, and all kinds of sewing-related items. Fabric will be sold by the piece, pound, or “how much can you stuff in a bag?”
The Sewing Room Faire is a fund-raiser for the Kitsap CTA organization which provides educational workshops and programs for youth, adults, and low income families, youth scholarships for sewing-related activities, and cash awards for prize-winning entries for youth and adult exhibits at Kitsap County Fair.

What beautiful fabrics! Love those purples!
Dang, are you kidding?? Port Orchard’s only about an hour away from me! Alas, I’ll be moving to Chicago next week and need more fabric like I need another hole in my head. Looks like you are donating some marvelous fabrics though.
Adrienne: Maybe I’ll actually make something with it! I always have good intentions.
Sara: These are my keepers. My eight bags of fabrics I’d passed over project after project went over to Linda’s house last month. Personally, I’m trying to stay away from the sale this year. Of course, I’m leaving the option open to change my mind by Friday!
Ohh I think the girls and I might go. Do you know what building it is in ?? It will be nice to see you. Clarice
but it’s on a FRIDAY
so not friendly for those of us who work for the man monday-friday.
Clarice: Hi darlin! Linda said it’s in the Fairgrounds Event Center across the street from the Pavilion. I’m not familiar enough with the building names to know exactly what she meant. She did say there would be signs everywhere.
Thank you so much for the heads up. I am so going to try to get to this. It was so lovely to see your patterns the other day in town.
That sounds like such a nice idea.
Darn, I was over there that weekend too. Saved my family from the torture of waiting for me.
