Tracey: the exterior fabric is an upholstery linen that I purchased locally at Esther’s Fabrics. It has this wonderful heft to it and the colors and scale were a perfect match.
Seemoway: Ha, flying the coop, flew the coop, US idioms are funny when you think about them. Chickens leaving the chicken coop. In this case it means they left their home via the postal service airplanes.
Those are beautiful. I clicked the link to go look at your Notelet pattern and it calls for Timtex. On another blog that I read they say that Timtex is being discontinued, if so, what will you use instead?
Those are great! Thanks for the info on your exploration of needle sizes – the photo was worth 1000′s. I’ve been learning it is worthwhile to match needle to thread and project and you added good data.
I’ve been laying out fabric for an Anna Banana runner and will let you know when I get it made.
These notelets look great!!! Thanks for the sewing advice a couple of posts back. I never knew there was a different needle for top stitching… Thanks for filling me in..
Those are beautiful – good luck! I’m sure they’ll be a hit. I tagged you on my blog… don’t participate unless you want to though. I know you’re busy! Em
To respond to Lorrie’s question about the demise of Timtex:
I heard that too and a fabric shop owner has confirmed the sad news for me. Timtex as a company is no more. I used Peltex 70 for these guys. I’ve always preferred Timtex because it’s just a tad stiffer than Peltex. The good thing about Peltex is that it is readily available at stores like Jo-Ann’s. I’ve also purchased several other brands (one locally and one online) that I’m going to experiment with and see what I think so I can give an opinion about options.
those are awesome! I can’t stop looking at them.
My fingers are crossed. I’m sure they will do their job well as you’ve been on a roll lately. OK, you’ve been on a roll since the beginning.
Beautiful Kathy! Good luck with your endeavor; hope you hear good news soon!
PS: What is that cool cover fabric???
they do their job here – and they will do it again!
you’ll shoot the bun with those lovelies! ^-^
Ooh…I loooove that tulip fabric! That’s a fabulous looking pile, there.
You already have the skill, you’ve done the hard work part, now you just need that little bit of luck. Here’s wishing you lots of luck!
OK, I am German, so I have to ask: What’ s the coop?
