A Good Week
Apr 3rd, 2008 by Kathy

Spring finally decided to make an appearance. Adult, child, and cat have all been soaking in the rays.
I’ve been working feverishly on a new pattern. Being brain fried at this point, I plan to fuel the blog along through the final phases with pictures and links:
- Kathleen Fasanella writes the Fashion-Incubator, an incredibly content rich blog about sewn product manufacturing. Her knowledge of the industry reaches far and wide. Here’s a fabulous post about Japanese pattern books where she mentions the Misses’ Stylebook forum. Write off another hour of your day!
- I continue to dye fabric in my nightly dreams. I collect inspiration during the day. Malka of a stitch in dye and Kathy York provided this month’s fuel.
- Seth Godin’s post on his use of ‘just’ and ’sort of’ in his writing was a stark look in the mirror. I’m trying to go cold turkey. Have you noticed?
4/4/08: I received a private e-mail asking about the paintings. They’re by Maria Mayr. I purchased them in 1998. I’ve always LOVED the color and scale of these pieces. Artists renting studio space at the shipyards in San Francisco would hold a twice yearly open house where you could see their work space and buy their art. Looks like it still happens and it’s all fancy now! I often think about moving back to San Francisco when the nest empties.

Let the cat in! LOL
Love the photo, then noticed the cat outside looking in.
It’s the details that make the pictures, isn’t it?

sun… whats that??? its been raining here in Misery (MO) for a month… and more to come.
i wish i could get Japanese on my computer. i bought a Japanese book a couple of years ago and got so frustrated with it i won’t buy any more but i love them and i want more but can’t decipher them so i won’t…:(
Kathy, I started to write a comment and it “just” grew and grew.
Here’s my response to your post: http://forcemajeurefarm.blogspot.com/2008/04/on-writing.html
Cheers!

I love this photo. Love is underlined!
I love the feet and the face in the window.
Caron: Ha! Isn’t that funny. Simba likes to hang out on the porch railings and soak up the sun. When he saw me taking pictures he decided he wanted to come in and be part of the action!
I spent 4 hours in the lovely sun yesterday, just soaking it up (and playing in the garden). It’s a good thing, since we’re back to winter today.
Is your cat like mine - always on the wrong side of the door?
I’ve been dreaming about “making” my own fabric too, by the way.
It’s interesting that the blogger was a male. I’ve read that qualifying terms like “just” and sort of” and “kind of” are very common in women’s usage as many of us are intimidated by the concept of expressing clear opinions! Thanks for striking a blow for clarity. I would also vote for the elimination of “basically” and “actually”…
I LOVE your blog and love, love, love your quilts! I’m so glad I found you - I’ll be back! Nan
your cat looks adorable peeking in the window. my cat will often go out side and then sit on the window sill and watch us in the house without wanting to come in.
The kids and I spent the sunny days on the beach, just breathing. The world comes back to life here when the sun comes out.
On the ‘just and sort of’ note; this week I pledged to eliminate the phrase “I didn’t get everything done I wanted to today” and replace it with “I accomplished ______ today”. I’m finding it much healthier and definitely much more positive!
Just found your blog. So glad I did. I’ve been missing the greatness here. Off to read your archives.
I love the photo you have chosen for this post. It’s magic.
