Virtual Quilting Bee - February
Feb 18th, 2008 by Kathy

The block I created for Jennifer for the Virtual Quilting Bee. She sent us the gorgeous Ikea print with colors galore. There were better photos of the block proper but none captured the sun like this one. It decided to come out and play today, yippeeee, Spring really will come again!
Quilter’s Cache calls this pattern the Friendship Scrap Block. No mods required since the pattern was the required 12 inches. I chose it for the name and the way it allowed me to play off the colors from the inspiration print with four solid squares.
I’m so glad Jennifer invited me to participate. I thoroughly enjoyed the process. Knowing my contribution was only 1/12th of the pie took the pressure off. Being able to accomplish the construction in a single afternoon was just downright enjoyable!
Anyone use Mail Chimp as their newsletter provider? Other suggestions? My bootstrapped Wordpress plug-in has joined the ranks of SCS (spam conspiracy syndicate) and it’s driving me to actually pay for technology.

Really pretty block, great choice in block pattern.
Hi Kathy,
I just read your piece on Sew Mama Sew’s Quilting Month site. I loved it. I thought I’d let you know that I enjoy your blog more than any other. Your way with words is elegant yet easy-going. Your projects are inspiring, yet not intimidating–just the perfect balance (maybe just enough intimidating that I want to see if I could pull it off, too!).
Thank you for sharing your inspiration, kindness, and creative vibes!

PS hope your finger is feeling good as new!
Beautiful colors in the quilt block! I’ve used constantcontact.com for newsletters and was pleased with the features and ease of use.
I adore the colors! The block is beautiful too! Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE the design of this block and the wonderful fabrics you used! You make me want to start sewing right now!
P.S. I would kill to have perfect points like you do. Well, maybe not kill, but . . .
Love your block. You have such a nice way with prints.
I only have recieved one Mail Chimp newsletter but I receive a lot from Constant Contact. I heard that it was easy to use.

The virtual quilting bee is such a brilliant idea. I wish I was tighter with more quilters; I would totally rip it off!
Hi, I came across your site today, but unfortunately I think your RSS feed is broken! I’ll be back in a few days and hopefully I can subscribe then.
love your quilt block! the quilts you all make this year are gonna be so cool!
I love your block. How did you mail it? I don’t want to fold mine, but it doesn’t fit in an envelope and I know you’re clever about these things.
Such precise sewing! Great work!
If the other 11 blocks look half as good as this, someone is getting a rockin’ quilt!
Its just LOVELY!
those fabrics sure do make the block. It doesn’t look as exciting on Quilters Cache.
that square looks just like spring. gorgeous!
What a wonderful square! Such bright, fun colors.
