2008 Kitsap Quilters Guild Show
Feb 15th, 2008 by Kathy

The 23rd Annual Kitsap Quilters Guild Show is taking place today and tomorrow (Friday & Saturday, February 15 & 16). This quilt stole the show. Margret Darrah is a friend of mine so even though I’m partial to her talent, my jaw dropped when I saw this one. The quilting was done by Marybeth O’Halloran and is spectacular.
The quilt is titled “Encendiemento” and measures 72″ x 83″. Encendiemento means the kindling or firing of the soul. Margret has this quilt for sale.
The other quilt that necessitated several loops back around is this antique baby quilt:

I LOVE the story that goes along with it:

You can see the other highlights of the show for me in this Flickr set. I enjoyed my chat with Judy Robertson who has her hand dyes there again. The new fat quarters I picked out are inspiring me to make some art for myself. My kids are off school for a 5 day weekend, wishing you all a fun holiday!

I wish I could go. It looks great. You’ll have to come to the Block Party Quilt show in April.
I kind of shy away from religious themes but that sacred heart quilt is killer. Love the free-pieced borders–all of them. Lots of energy and passion.
The antique quilt is beautiful and the story makes it even more so.
I’ve never been to a quilt show, it must be amazing ~ Julia x
