Sew Expo 2008 – Sandra Betzina

The Sewing and Stitchery Expo is taking place through Sunday (March 2, 2008). Billed as “the nation’s largest sewing show!” it’s HUGE. Many women will get a hotel room and go all four days, I met people who had come up from Oregon and distant towns in Washington. I ate lunch next to the President [...]

Inspiration from Andy Goldsworthy

Kendra Allen created these fabulous birch bark prayer flags for last month’s Out of the Box challenge. Kendra was the one who submitted this challenge idea, at the meeting she spoke further about her inspiration for the idea and a discussion about Andy Goldsworthy ensued.
When I got home from the meeting I reserved some books, [...]

Favicons

This is the new favicon I made for my website. I made one last year for my blog and I had to laugh at the time because I didn’t even know what they were called. I googled for something like “little picture on the web address bar” and found it.
Today I used this very cool [...]

Margret Darrah is a friend of mine so even though I’m partial to her talent, my jaw dropped when I saw this one. The quilting was done by Marybeth O’Halloran [...]

That’s the way we like our Chinese food. Last night’s dinner featured Hot Hunan Shrimp and Dan Dan Noodles, and let me tell you, it was OUTSTANDING. My food photography sucks, I Photoshop’ed it so you’re not scared away. You really have to try these. This meal is the first entry on our Best of [...]

Auction Season

Mr. E’s teacher quilt, posted two years ago, an excellent example of time flying!

The series of posts I did on that quilt get a fair number of Google visitors. I can tell it’s school auction season because I’m starting to get e-mails requesting help. Time for a round up post.
I did four posts about the [...]

Plant Markers

Each time I write about my Out of the Box challenges I get questions about the group itself. I plan to start answering them along the way. Please feel free to add your questions to the comments so I can keep a running list. All these posts will be tagged with the Out of the [...]

Thread Storage

Thread storage. I sat on that problem for years. Previous method: 5 shoe box size plastic containers sitting on the floor, colors sorted into small plastic sandwich bags. Not an efficient method for finding a color match.
These magic ArtBin Thread Boxes were my Christmas booty from Greg’s annual pilgrimage with the girls to buy Mom [...]
