The early morning brought snow and no school. It was all gone by late afternoon. The weather forecast is predicting a bigger storm tonight. I feel exactly the same way I did when I was 12. We’d stay up late, noses pressed against the window, watching the snow fall and praying for a Snow Day. My mom was a teacher so she always prayed pretty hard too.

That picture is BEAUTIFUL. Stay safe and warm tonight!!!
We were in the same boat this morning. I was sad to see the snow melt in the afternoon.
Snow days are the best days of all.
My fingers are totally crossed for more snow tonight. I went to work today, but man I’d really like to stay home tomorrow.
And we just got a new picture book from the library called Snow Day! that’s about some kids and their dad hoping for a day off tomorrow. Your girls are probably too old to… um, love it as much as I do.
Wonderful picture. I love snow (when I can stay inside!). The wheather forecast promisses some snow for us this weekend too!
The sunlight on the snow is serenely beautiful. Sighhhhhh.
My mom’s also a teacher and STILL calls me up to brag when she has a snow day!
In some areas the teachers have to report for work despite the snow. No fun at all!
BEAUTIFUL, beautiful snow
I absolutely love snow! Thank you for sharing that picture, and your memories with us!!
I also wanted to let you know that I’m hosting a recipe contest over on my blog - go check it out if you get a chance!
Right there with ya! My husband and I are both teachers! It is supposed to snow tonight so we will be doing our snow dance too!
i would be happy if we had snow more than one day this winter - not to mention so much snow that one can’t leave the house…
The picture is beautiful Kathy! My Mom is a retired teacher and we LOVED snow days! As a matter of fact, we are having a snow day today. The girls love it!!
Lovely photo, Kathy! Here in southern Norway, we are oddly without any snow at all for the moment…Real winter will happen yet though, I’m sure. Hope you all enjoyed your snow day!
)
I love the photo! I grew up in So. Cal. so we only got earthquake days.
Now I’m in Boston and occasionally get a snow day. Ahhhh…
I used to love the school being closed due to the snow. Like you say there was always anticipation the night before when the flakes would start to fall. Hope that they would have stuck by morning, and icy enough that the teachers would not be able to drive their cars to school !
What a beautiful picture! Particularly for me who is currently in the middle of a HOT Australian summer!
It never ceases to amaze me how it can be snowing for someone somewhere and roasting hot for someone somewhere else! All on the same planet! What a wonderful world!
I’m student teaching right now after a career change. I had my first snow day as a teacher on Friday and was all smiles. Thanks to all of you who did the snow dance! Kathy, I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks and admire your creativity, humor, and writing style–thank you for sharing with us!
I’m right there with you praying for snow. So often the weather reports are such teases.
