It’s done! I’m so excited and exhausted. I’ll keep this one short.
Anna Banana is a collection of 4 designs for the table. A table runner in two different sizes, place mats, and place cards. It includes several fun techniques that I think you’ll enjoy.
The pattern is available in the shop, located on my much meddled and tinkered with website. Please be kind and pass along any goofs, typos or things I can’t even imagine could be wrong. I’ve implemented Paypal’s new shipping functionality that allows me to define different rates by destination country. You’ll see a single order button (yay, thank goodness for the small things). This calculation takes place at the time you check out. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for at least a week.

This pattern was extremely fun to design and write. It also could not have happened without two very talented and extremely generous blogging friends. Kate of KC Quilts and Anina of Twiddletails did the testing and then some. Their thoughtful recommendations and keen perspective propelled the pattern far beyond what it was when it first arrived in their inbox.
Kate commented to me that even though most quilt patterns say ‘quilt as desired’, it would be nice to provide some quilting ideas. I did just that and I’m so pleased with the addition.
Thank you both for lending me your patience and expertise.

I have about a million more things to chatter about. Full size pics of the small and large runners on Flickr. Talk to you soon…zzzzzzzzz.

You are on a roll! The place cards are an especially nice touch. My great grandmother had a wonderful collection of place cards (though none fiber) and it was always so much fun to celebrate at her house and see what theme she had picked for the occassion.
Congratulations, again, you clever woman. And Anna Banana is the nickname of one of my nieces – you have the best of taste.
Onward and upward, Mrs. Mack. After a sleep, of course. I am so excited for your growing success.
cool. definitely.
and i totally agree with kate – i’m one of those persons who loves to see at least one suggestion for a possible quilting. if i do it like that is another story, but i really like to see how THEY did it.
congrats for another wonderful pattern! ^-^
Hooray! I’m off to buy it now…
Very beautiful! I am so happy to have discovered your site. Your projects are fabulous!

Lovely, lovely! I enjoyed making these so much!
Hey Kathy, Congratulations! I’m sooo proud of you for persevering and getting it done in this the craziest time of year for crafters! I love the top picture and I’m imagining you suspended from the ceiling Mission Impossible style to get the shot.

The site looks great! Enjoy some relief, pattern designer!
Everytime I take a good look at my table, I think of you you because I would really like a pretty table runner gracing its presence. I’m putting this on my Christmas wish list for sure! It’s all gorgeous!

this is fabulous! Love the design, and your fabric choices make it sing!
I love the color and pattern combination!
I love the pictures and the quilting. Your quilting is always so fabulous and unique. Now I have to get on the ball and actually finish my set!
Look at you go, Kathy!! Amazing.
OK, for what it’s worth, it drives me nuts when I come across the “quilt as desired” instruction. Suggestions are always welcome in a pattern, so that’s a great touch. Gorgeous fabric combinations in your demos there, by the way.
so beautiful!!! i love the way you have quilted these…just gorgeous!
Brilliant! :0)
You are so amazingly creative. I wish I had a brain for putting such cool fabric combos together! I really enjoy your blog–it’s inspiring!
Very wonderful… I too love the place-cards. Now, if only I could find a way to eek more hours out of my day. I’ve already given up too much sleep! Dang work and household demands
My goodness how inspiring and wonderful! These would surely make any table delightful and fabulous! You have a real eye and talent for mixing great fabrics into something wonderful to be envied!

WOW!!! I love the wavy lines, and the beautiful quilting. I posted my first offical quilt on my blog because it’s the first one I’ve ever binded by machine and hand. What stitch do you use when you hand bind the binding to the back? I tried different ones, and I’d love your thoughts. I also have another quilt top finished that I posted. I want to quilt like you someday! I’ll keep practicing! You’re an inspiration!
Fabulous Kathy! Ordering now – can’t wait to stitch it up.
Congratulations! Love that placecard holder!
Carla: I use what I call a blind stitch to sew the binding by hand to the back. I know that’s sort of a generic name so I’ll try and describe it just a bit more.
Visualize the thread coming out of binding edge. I stick my needle straight down from that point then angle it so the needle comes out a little to the left (maybe 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch), pierces the binding as it comes up and I pull through. Now I’m back to having that thread sitting right at the edge of the binding.
They key is to develop a technique where you’re accurately placing your needle so you never see the thread.
I always match the color of my thread to the binding, not the quilt. That way stitches seem to disappear against the binding.
Kathy, Love your new pattern and name. It looks like our own Anna Banana. Congratulations on a job well done! Hugs, Mom
so lovely, again!
These are absolutely fantastic with those wonderful Amy Butler fabrics.
I love the name plate idea – and after, the guests could maybe even tuck a little picture in there for a little frame? Nice idea!
Kathy, absolutely gorgeous patterns and wonderful, fresh combinations of fabrics. Well done!
[...] This runner and kitchen towels were made for a Secret Santa gift. I used the pattern from Pink Chalk Studios and LOVE how it turned out. I actually have second one (unfinished) for myself in the same exact colors. [...]
