Quilting Gloves

Greg takes the girls out shopping every Christmas to pick up stocking stuffers for Mom. Last year they did good, real good. These Fons & Porter quilting gloves are my absolute favorite. I have very large hands and these fit me like a ‘glove’ (hee, hee). You gals with big hands know EXACTLY what I’m talking about. These are a size Large and have teeny tiny plastic gripper bumps that give me control over my machine quilting. They breathe too. My other pair are the nylon gloves with an overall coating of rubber on the palm and fingertips. I always feel like my hands are in an extremely undersized sauna and I can’t wait to get out. I have a theory that Liz Porter has really big hands too and she insisted that they make these gloves roomy for those of us with man hands. Thank you Liz!

…and to cut everyone off at the pass. It’s a teaser shot of my next pattern. I’m not telling till it’s done.

I love quilting gloves. I have some of the white Machingers that I really like.

Your use of color and wonderful quilting is always an inspiration!

I cut the tips of the fingers off my gloves to give me some breathing room – it also makes it easier to change threads and things without having to take them off.

It’s just as bad on the other side of the spectrum. I’m a big girl (I’m 5’8″and reasonably zaftig) but I have tiny (like smaller than my svelt sister’s) wrists and hands. It runs in my family. Trying to find good gloves is a nightmare. The small size is usually too big. :(

I have the opposite problem in that I have small hands. Whatever you’re making it looks good.

    quilting gloves…
to be honest, i didn’t pay attention to the gloves at first sight but more to what’s underneath. and then you won’t tell. oh, how hard life can be! *insert a stage-like sigh here*
anyways… the fabrics look great… love that colorway!
but when i think about the pain in the neck and back when i was machine-quilting the quilt for my nephew… those gloves seem to be worth a try.

You know, I wasn’t even in the market for quilting gloves, but seeing that they fit “man hands” such as mine, I may have to get them just to feel that satisfaction. People always laugh at me when I say man hands, and it is nice to know others suffer from the same affliction!

Now…is it really a present if we tell them what to get or order them ourselves (from them)? I say YES and that is why I order my own gift and than act all humble on my birthday when the delivery trucks arrive.
    hmmm…birthday is coming….

Kim: Believe or not the 3 of them picked these out by themselves at Jo-Anns. I was amazed and grateful.

This is all good news to me. I hate myself every time I think the “medium” “Casabella” dish gloves will fit just because I don’t want to think of myself as a size large.

I have that exact pair and loved them only they are too large…fingers are too long. I really need to get a pair of medium and use them. The lightness is much better than the winter glove feel of my others!

All I can say is wow! I really feel you have made valid and interesting details here and I acknowledge. The difference between a superb writer and a good writer is presentation. You’re a great writer.
