Created using Lynn of Molly Chicken’s original pattern and tutorial.
Leil is sleeping over at her best friend’s house tonight. Blue is for the birthday girl, Pink for the birthday girl’s little sister, and Yellow for Leil.
There are so many things I want to say about Lynn and this pattern.
A simple design packed with an unexpected punch. As soon as the embroidery thread touched the felt a smile spread across the face of the mouse. It was smiling at me! I smiled back. The ears and tails wiggled a bit and they winked at me as a I tucked them into their sleeping bags.
The girls squealed with delight at the sight of them.
I’ve been suffering a bit of grumpiness of late about blogging. About posting free patterns. About the abuse that such offerings ultimately lead to. Lynn single handedly pulled me out of the funk pond and reminded me why it’s good to share.
I was truly inspired as I stitched these little guys. Ideas whirling. A smallness in scale I’d never even thought about much less attempted. An appreciation for the simplicity of an eye animated with only two threads.
A convergence of all the things I love about creating and learning. I felt refreshed, energized, ready to tackle my own new territory.
Thank you Lynn!
8/29/07: OK, what I did on the sleeping bags: I added 1/4″ to Lynn’s pattern dimensions as published. I cut a single piece of fusible fleece the exact size of the pattern. Ironed it to the interior fabric. Sew exterior to interior right sides together along the short ends only. Turn right side out. Quilt the layers together. Zig zag stitch the long sides. Follow Lynn’s pattern the remainder of the way. Have fun! Squeak, squeak.

Total adorableness. Makes me want to go and stitch my own right now. Would make great stocking fillers, I am thinking.
Awwww. Yea Lynn, and yea you!
You are very very welcome Kathy.
And how lovely are your mice ! – great colours !
And as for the sleeping bags, I wouldn’t mind something as posh and well made as that for myself !!
Great stuff .
: )
I’m in love with their little quilted sleeping bags – the blue one looks like he only just woke up! Gorgeous.
And glad it has lifted your spirits. Because for every small mean spirited instance in blogland, there are thousands of happy grins like those mice gave me this morning.
The fun and joy you had making these beautiful gifts is obvious! I hope all of you who are sharing patterns and idea’s on your blogs will continue to do so. Please don’t let the bad spirits in blogland conquer over all of the happy and well meaning ones! (beautiful fabrics again!)
I love how they coordinate with their bags. Sophisticated little mice.
Those are too cute!!!!
Oh! As soon as I saw the pattern for the mice, I told my daughter and she insisted we set aside time to make them together. Thank you for the reminder, and encouragement through such beautiful examples!
I love the giving and welcoming nature of so many blogs and hope and believe it inspires the same in their readers — I love the free patterns and they encourage me to buy more from their designers.
The mice and sleeping bags are adorable! hope the girls had fun at their sleep over~
omg, this little guys are just sa-weet!
What a great gift! I am boggling my mind for some handmade party favor ideas for my soon to be 2 year old’s party. I love keeping up with your blog and appreciate your sharing. Your OCD keeps us all on our toes.
Cute, cute, cute. I saw this tutorial but was a little intimidated at the small scale. I think I will give it a try. My daughter will be sitting for a 5 year old on Saturday for the first time. This may be the perfect little welcome to break the ice. Thanks for sharing. I love your color combos too.
_I_ squealed with delight at the sight of them, and I am way too old for slumber parties
My lord–the linen sleeping bags! You’re killing me! I need a little girl to sew for, stat!
Ahhhhh! Here we go again with something totally cute that I want to make! If I didn’t like your blog so much, I would have to stop reading it. You are just too inspirational for your own good Kathy! I think I am going to have to start spending my breaks at work a little more wisely. Less chit chat and more crafting! LOL!
I love these! How sweet!
I love how they turned out!
So cute! And they coordinate with their little bags. Now who could I make one for???
So, so cute! Thanks for sharing.
So cute. Wish I could have gone to the sleepover! What a great idea. I will have to remember that for my daughter’s first sleepover. Thank you for sharing!

Those are adorable. What a sweet trio of mice. No wonder the girls were squealing!
p.s. glad to know I’m not the only grump in blogland.
Now thats some fun stuff!!! Those little guys make me smile!!!
Good grief, those are cute! I love their little sleeping bags.

SO CUTE, and as they say, what goes around comes around, friend.
They’re as sweet as can be! You’ve inspired me to give them a go too.
at the risk of sounding like a broken record–they are soooo cute!! such lovely sleeping bags–of course again I have the same material–sitting on my shelf and waiting for such a wonderful project-thanks for the inspiration, as always!!
Oh how cute! Now I want to make mice!
Question; in looking at the previous post with the little zippered bags, I saw your label and was wondering where you purchased them? I am about to launch a line cute wearables and need a good source for labels. Thanks for any info. Lovie
Hi lovie, I’m still printing my labels on my inkjet printer. I used BubbleJet Set to treat some white cotton fabric and then attached it to a full sheet label before putting it through the printer. Here’s a link to a post I did about labels:

If I could ever make a decision about the design I would order some!
Let me know what you end up getting
Kathy
Oh my gosh I love these. They are just too cute.
So, so cute! I love how they turned out. I think I might have to make a couple for my kids. :0)
These are absolutely adorable! What fun for the sleepover/party!
Oh these are so cute! Thanks for pointing me to this great idea, I’ll check the pattern immediately. I’m sure the girls loved them, too. Very sweet of you to think of the little sister as well. In our family we have “Beigeschenke” (side presents, maybe) which the other kids get when one has their birthday, so that they’re not standing with empty hands and big eyes next to all the presents. And we’re still doing it even though we’re all technically adults by now.

So cute! When I saw these on her blog, I thought I really need to make some! I think I might make a few little mice for my cats actually using her tutorial/pattern
A different use, but still fun!
glad they lifted your spirits — you sure made our whole family smile! the sleeping bags are just the best.
Aren’t they so sweet. I love your headbands also. I live in headbands !!!
Oh, those are the cutest, non-scariest mousies ever! My little Liv will love them to pieces!
