Raspberry.

More jam. Strawberry.

The raspberries and strawberries at Suyematsu Farm got together and decided to ripen at the same time this year. I use berries, sugar, pectin and a 5 minute upside-down flip. A detailed chronicle of last year’s process. We’ve been eating a lot of toast around here.

I read about the new Google reverse telephone directory at Tara Whitley yesterday. A friend also sent me an e-mail last night. I typed our phone number in the Google search box and our home address popped up instantly. Hmmm. I have to agree, this just strikes me as a little too much information available at someone’s fingertips. During the request to remove ourselves Google asks ‘Why?’ with one of the options being ‘Privacy Concerns’, uh, yeah.

Mmmmmm….makes me think of all the homemade jam my mom used to make. At least you’re set for jam for the rest of the year now!
Yum yum! Jam! What lovely little jars!!
I did that phone thing, and, (I think) since our complete address isn’t listed in the phone book, it does not come up in the search, just the city.
Wow. I didn’t know that about the phone numbers. We have a new number so nothing happened when I searched it. But I guess I’ll have to keep checking it.
Thank you for the tip about the reverse phone directory. I asked them to remove our listing as well.
I love making jam, alas I have not done so yet this year. I will probably make some wild black raspberry jelly (so people don’t have to put up with the seeds) and some strawberry sometime soon! I use the same cute little jars and the inversion method too. I love to hear that pop when they seal!
We made cherry jam over the weekend and I just bought a load of blueberries to make some more. I love giving jam as gifts, everyone is always so impressed and really the effort isn’t too significant.
Thanks for the heads-up on the google thing. I popped right over there and asked them to remove our name/number too.
The jam looks delicious. And that reverse phone directory thing is a bit disconcerting for sure. We just use cell phones, so there’s no actual land line to connect us to our addresses.
Your photography is so beautiful. It looks like I could just lick the screen and taste the jam… just kidding.
I got an email like that too. I made sure I unlisted us. Crazy. So glad someone figured that out!!
Ok..you just really made me want some strawberry jam!!!!!!!
Hey Kathy, I just made rasberry jam too! It is so delicious, I can’t stop eating it! We are waiting for the blackberries to ripen next.
that looks sooo yummy!
That telephone thing has been around for some time, I think more than even a couple of years. If you go to yellow pages online there’ s the same feature. If you have an unlisted number it should not show up. At least ours doesn’t and we’ve always been unlisted.
Love your photos!
Also with an unlisted number and it luckily did not show up.
Thank you for the tip… just had them remove mine. I love your photos of the making the jam… I can get lost in the stirring motion. Love it!
The jam looks fantastic. I love our fruit here in Washington… so fresh and tasty!
Tiffany
Great photos, I can smell the jam! The phone thing is the same here in Holland. When you have a listed number your telephone number will show up in Google! The unlisted numbers won’t. Enjoy your jam!
What gorgeous pictures… and now I wish I still had the energy to can! My mother used to “put up” lots of fruits and veggies and I’m lucky if I have the gumption to freeze some tomatoes and peppers or make some spaghetti sauce to freeze. I can taste the goodness now – you’re amazing.
That jam looks delicious!
(just a note… there are actually quite a few websites where you can type in a number and get all the address/name info, I think the best way is to have an unpublished number… some of the other ones are switchboard.com, whitepages.com, and yahoo people search. all of which will let you remove your info, but some take a little bit of looking to find out how.)
Those strawberries look good enough to eat. Love all your little jars in a row. I’ll have mine with scones and cream please. LOL
Yummy!
