Reason No. 1,638 to Make Quilts

I got a new toilet, the kids a new playhouse.

This was the first quilt I made for Leil. It’s a Lazy Lattice block that I paper pieced. The blocks are set in a funky rotation that made matching the four pieces of the the secondary ‘diamond’ way more complicated than it should have been. She loves this quilt, sleeps with it nightly, and often drags it from location to location throughout the house putting it to use where needed.

So glad to see another person who is a “use it” kind of crafter. I think I inherited the trait from my great-grandmother who stained her cut crystal bowls by mixing paint in them. She always said, “Why have it if you aren’t going to use it?” We keep a quilt in the car and it came in handy yesterday at the library outdoor show so we had a blanket to sit on. I’d rather have a quilt of mine used, loved and even ruined, than to sit in a closet alone or hang on a wall.

I would LOVE to snuggle up in that quilt right now :O) Oh my goodness it is georgeous.

My kids have been blessed by quilts from my mom, Grandma and great Grandma. They too haul them all to the living room to make forts or have picnics or just to snuggle up and read. Now I just need to learn how to repair all those quilts.

I’ve only ever made Gwenny a small quilt. I think it’s time I should make her a big one, thanks for the inspiration and motivation !
