I can’t even begin to tell you how appreciative I am of all the supportive comments you gals sent me. It REALLY means a lot to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
It got me all sentimental and thinking about blogging and you, know, blah, blah, blah. Kleenex please.
Then: I was looking for a photo to make that groovy Toot Your Horn icon on the sidebar and had to go back to my old laptop to retrieve it. As I was flipping through all the pictures (of course I could have searched my blog to find the EXACT date that image was used but I didn’t, that would have been way too efficient) a total quick replay of the last year flashed before my eyes. Man, I could never have foreseen how Pink Chalk Studio - The Blog would change my life. All the things I got from you: inspiration, support, creative focus, cheer leading, bravery, confidence, some REALLY good dessert recipes, new techniques, thought provoking issues, not so thought provoking issues, laughter. It was all lurking there in those digital images.
Then later on: I spent last night catching up on way over due blog reading. Thank goodness there’s no fines for that, I’d be broke. As I was enjoying reading about what you were all up to this mosaic of images appeared in my mind. I’m not quite sure how to put it into words but I’ll try. What I saw was an absolutely amazing progression of everyone’s creative energy. Photos that I remember when I first discovered your blog and photos that I see now. Besides being a talented lot of shutterbugs, your work has really progressed. Each person winding a path in their own unique direction. Swaps, tutorials, shows, books, patterns, newsletters, ezines, Etsy shops full, voices found.
Selling and displaying our work is an outcome but it doesn’t show the journey taken to get there. Thank you all for sharing that part on your blogs. I’m so darn proud of everyone!

Wow, what a great post. Thank you Kathy. This blog thing is really amazing when you think about it. I’m so glad to have you as my friend.
You are right, Kathy. When I go back and look at my first tentative posts (only 2 short months ago), I am amazed at the change. The blog world is definitely wonderful for unleashing creativity and just the general urge to make something. And of course a place to make wonderful blogfriends.
I stop by here often. I love seeing all the great things you have made. You take such beautiful pictures and your sewing projects are adorable. You inspire!!
I bet it was a lot of fun to look back. It is amazing how blogging has touched so many people.
I second Mama Urchin, what a great post Kathy! It’s true .. everyone’s changed so much in time. I think a big part of it is that we’re all constantly inspired by fellow bloggers. It’s definitely part of a larger movement back towards the arts and crafts. Maybe it’s a way for people to take a step back from the faster pace of modern life? Or maybe it’s just that more people are discovering a way to connect with like-minded friends regardless of geography? What ever the reason it’s all a good thing!

Although I don’t comment as often as I should–I really enjoy your blog and find you very inspiring! This post really touches my heart as it is something I agree with totally–although I haven’t sold any of my wares (it’s hard to when you don’t put them up for sale..hehe)–it’s a journey I’ve enjoyed watching bloom before my eyes through the digital images over the last year. Furthermore–I’ve immensely enjoyed watching my blog friends grow and blossom as well.
Thanks for putting into words what so many of us feel

What a wonderful post! It really is amazing to be able to watch so many wonderful people create and express themselves!
I am so glad to be a part of that!
Love this picture of the girls so much. And well said, you summed it up beautifully.
no - thank YOU for sharing your life.
it’s always a pleasure to read along.
It’s certainly good that there is no fines for not catching up with each others blogs, I’d be broke too. Yhe sun has been so good here lately the thought of being inside just doesn’t get the vote. However if I had a laptop to use on the sunlounger outside, well that would be fab ! Our kids don’t brake up yet either. However it is nice that I can be outside without being called by the kids every 2 secs too do this and that for them!
You said about the picture of the pencil roll, were you the first in computer land to do one then ? I often wonder who was the first genius behind these ideas, as they roll through blogland with everyone making them ? - love Julia x
I made my version for the Whip Up Challenge in May, 2006. At the time I had never seen another pencil roll, I based mine on commercial versions I’d seen in catalogs. I discovered later that bloggers far and wide had been making crayon and pencil rolls, and here I thought I was so original. I do think I originated the design of doing patchwork that matched the color of the pencils themselves, the essence of my inspiration for the ‘Color’ theme of the Whip Up challenge. When I teach this class locally, that’s the ‘twist’ I feel I can call my own. Plus a REALLY clever construction design
Developing my own designs is really important to me. Sometimes I think the web can muddle my creativity so I take long breaks and just focus on doing my own thing.
Thank YOU for continually being an inspiration! And for having this space in blogland that is so beautiful and refreshing.
Kathy, you are such an inspiration. And though we’ve never met, one of the sweetest bloggers I know. Thank you for being you and sharing so much of your creativity.
Speaking of catching up on blog reading….
Wow - you got a shop. And a pattern. Whoohoo! Yea for you.
I am gonna have to book mark that RAW post and come back to it in a few weeks. David just bought me some Photoshop RAW thing and is pressuring me to start taking and processing RAW photos and I just haven’t even had the guts to install the program…. Anyway, enough about me — I’m really thrilled for you. Talk about changes and growth. You’ve come a long way yourself!!
What a lovely post! I couldn’t have said it better myself, so I’m glad you did. Thanks for putting such “positive-ness” out there. It’s such a gift to everyone.
Thank you for your lovely blog and thank you for your kind words to everyone. I’m a relatively ‘new’ blogger and enjoy it so much getting such wonderful input that sometimes my head is spinning around!
Having a blog also means your looking at everything in a totally different perspective.
That’s a great photo! I love how the unposed photos seem to have so much life in them.
Congratulations on getting your pattern ready for sale. That’s a huge endeavor and it looks beautiful and very pro. Your Dark and Stormy Night project is great too. My daughter just walked in and oohed and aahed.
Kathy: such a sweet, delightful post … YOU are the inspiration
