It was a dark and stormy night…
Jun 8th, 2007 by Kathy
The theme for my creativity group’s June meeting. This quote evoked warm and comforting thoughts for me. Nothing I like better than a good storm, a cup of tea and my sewing machine. I often imagine magical things taking place in the woods that sit behind our house.
5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″, commercial and Judy Robertson hand dyed fabrics, machine quilted, hand embroidered and beaded. Completed June 2007.
What ideas does the quote stir for you?

That quote always reminds me of Snoopy sitting on top of his doghouse with a typewriter. Can’t help it, but that’s always the first image that pops into my mind.
Unfortunately all I can think of is the beginning of the Aladdin cartoon.. “it was a dark and stormy night… where a dark man waits… with a dark puuuuurpose.” love the quilting!
I love it. Our theme for this month is “fences” and I’m totally stumped.
That phrase always reminds me of the book “A Wrinkle in Time” I think that is the opening of the story. The quilting looks good. Great interpretation.
snoopy here, too.
I really love the look of this.
That’s really pretty!
lovely - the contrast between the flowers and the background / foreground is wonderful!
Gotta be Snoopy for me, too.
Love your interpretation–that really speaks to me!
This is a lovely piece, such great color in this and so much movement from the stitching. Nicely done.
