I feel like the tortoise these days, slow and steady. I’ve also been singing ‘put one foot in front of the other…’, a LOT. It actually works. I’d like to have 3 testers for my Note Taker Folio pattern. It’s based on the design I created for my Mom last year with some fun twists added. I’m looking for a continuum of skills, beginner to expert. You would receive the pattern early next week with one week to make it and give me your feedback. E-mail me if you’re interested. Holy smokes, thanks gals. I’ll read through my mail tonight and give everyone who so graciously volunteered a response one way or the other.
Caitlin turned 12 last week. Yesterday, out of the blue, she said she wanted to start wearing make up. Off to Rite Aid where some Maybelline mascara and natural looking lip gloss was selected. Eeeekkk!

What a lovely cake! Yes, it’s scary when they grow up so quickly. Mine is a boy, so we don’t have the make-up issue, but he HAS to have clothes from very specific stores and very specific brands all of a sudden.
*thud* She’s 12, huh? My Kaitlin is 9 and already has classmates wearing makeup to school. Ugh. I know my days are limited LOL
I emailed you about the pattern.
My oldest turns 12 this fall. I am crossing my fingers that the make-up wearing urge holds off for a few more years. Well, one can hope anyways.
12 – so the worst time is still to come…
no. joking!
congrats!
and good luck for you!
i completely know what you mean….
p.s. you have mail…
mmh, your notebook cover looks great… unfortunately I’m quite busy, but I’m sure you’ll find enough volunteers!
Happy belated birthday to Caitlin!
I sent you an email. I just looked at the Folio and my goodness! It’s beautiful. My husband is an English professor and writer, and is constantly trying to get me to design just what you’ve designed. He’d flip if he saw yours.
hi there. i guess you would call me a lurker (what an ugly word though…)and i have been enjoying your blog for several months now. you have such an artist’s touch and your work is lovely! i found you through http://theehandworks.typepad.com. i am sending you an email about the folio, but i think you will have so many volunteers…;) i have a close friend that uses legal pads and could use a pick-me-up. what a great idea!
I’m excited for your patterns!
Recently (for some reason), I was thinking about when we wore makeup as little girls, and realizing just how young we were. We turned out okay (and I never wear makeup now) but it’s unnerving to look back on, and to think of 12 year-old-girls wearing makeup now!
Looks like the tortoise pace is working just fine for you. It is no surprise to me that you had volunteers right away. The patterns are going to be wonderful.
Oh, that design for the folio was really wonderful. I look forward to when you put it together for all to see! And please tell Caitlin Happy Birthday! 12 is such an big age, so much change. I hope it is a wonderful year!
Yikes, makeup!
Happy birthday, Caitlin! I like your fabrics there. I would love to help, but am swamped myself and it looks like you have plenty of testers. I can’t wait to see the finished products. Good luck!
That’s all any girl really needs…mascara and a good lip gloss!
Oh the joy’s of wearing makeup. I bet there will be some disasters applying that mascara ! Not the most easiest makeup item to start with … hee hee – love Julia x
