My Out of the Box group met last night to trade valentines. Someone forgot to take her camera which means you won’t be seeing some of the most fabulous, creative valentines I’ve ever SEEN. Sorry guys. Mine was loved by the recipient (random drawing). Lots of laughs and giggles over all the creations.
The second trade-a-thon came with these prayer flags. Each member made 15 of the same thing. Turns were taken to describe the flag created and its meaning as we passed one out to each member of the group. Wow is all I have to say. Much too beautiful to hang outside and watch disintegrate back to the elements. I was feeling the good vibes all the way home.
You can see a detailed picture of each flag along with some info on the creator’s intent. I made the first one in the set using Shiva paint sticks. I’ll share the details of that process in my next post.
Next month’s challenge: Masks. We’ll also bring 15 8×10 inch squares of fabric (all the same fabric) to be traded with other members of the group. Our challenge the following month is to create something using all the fabrics.

very cool! i love the way the paint sticks look, they remind me a bit of yoruba dyeing.
What a great project — looks like you all approached it really differently. Nice group you’ve found yourself!
Loved your prayer flag and will be looking forward to your post on the Shiva paint sticks. Thanks for the link to the prayer flag photos and history. Always striving upwards. Always something new to learn and enjoy.
I love, love, love the idea of prayer flags! What a neat exchange! I’m envious of your group, although I may have one forming shortly. I’m teaching in a women’s art/craft day the end of february. Maybe that will turn into something.
