Pieced Heart #2 – Be Mine

This was #2 in the series of pieced hearts I did on the way to creating Pieced Heart #4 for the Lovely Hearts show. My Out of the Box group meets this evening and we’re trading valentines. Why did I toss this by the side of the sewing table on the way to creating #4? I looked at it and thought it looked like it was in jail. Caitlin saw it on the design wall and said it looked like it was in jail. Greg came in and said it looked like the bars were a jail cell. Consensus. The heart is in jail. I still like it. I like the colors. I like the the whole ‘Be Mine’ aka ‘Be in Jail’ theme. I’m certain the humor will be appreciated by the person who takes it home tonight.

I wanted to make sure and mention Geri’s tutorial on Skinny Bits. It’s a great technique for adding splashes of color and livening up a piece. It’s fun too. Making them bulge, making them really skinny, making them curvy. Thank you Geri for sharing this!

How about calling it *Prisoner of Love*, Kathy? What a great valentine!

The border and the brown are very appealing with the contrast of red.

I think it looks great Kathy! Maybe the heart is in jail as in, “you’ve captured my heart”… Awwww… Hahaha..

I’m sure people will love it!

it’s kind of a “if I can’t have you, nobody will” sort of thing. ; )

Yeah – I thought jail too but thought it was intentional — the gun, etc. I like it too, love the colors and the design is really playful…

I really love the colors. I didn’t think jail until you said it, so I don’t know that it wouldn’t work. You should make some of these onto cards. Seriously. I think they’re great.

Like the other commenter said, “prisoner of love,” or “I am captured by your love.”

Thanks for the link to the tutorial!

OK, everyone’s beat me to the punny names. I like them all. I’m sure it will be adored by whomever takes it home.

Thanks for the link. I always hate to quandry of “Do I keep this?” when I have scrap strips. Not sure “yes” is the answer my already messy room needs though ;)

I think this is my fav. yet but you know I love all your work and your pattern combos…I just love the color combo. Actually, I will be decorating my new place in that palette! I am planning on painting my kitchen a blue similar to the one in the border since it goes so well with all my red dishes and accessories. Enough about me…It does look like bars…it should be subtitled “Prisoner of Love”!
