Pincushions

Meet Ms. Pincushion. She’s hanging out in my sewing room with 10 of her closest friends. Anxious to go live with quilters all over the Kitsap Peninsula. I spent the better part of the weekend sewing up round ones, square ones, a diamond shape (note singular tense, it looks like a wacky square and it was the hardest to put the border on), and some that never felt the sweet, oily touch of pure wool stuffing. I’m dreaming pincushion designs and hope to add a few more to the collection before the quilt show.

I found the fabric it’s sitting on in a plastic bin of fashion fabrics while looking for some wool. I bought it at last year’s Sew Expo, stashed it and COMPLETELY forgot I had it. Not sure I can think of anything more thrilling than finding a 1 yard cut of Etsuko Furuya linen. I wasn’t familiar with these beautiful fabrics at the time I purchased it but now I am. Stop tempting me Purl!

Last year I made notebook covers and zippered pouches. I sold several of each but not as many as I would have liked. I’m hoping a product targeted to sewers and quilters will be more successful. I’m having a ball making lots of one thing, changing little bits and pieces of the design as I go along. Creative and easy and no pressure. My long neglected unstocked Etsy shop will FINALLY get some items after the show. I need to figure out how to package and ship stuff first.

The Kitsap Quilters Guild annual quilt show is on Friday and Saturday, February 16 and 17. I’m managing the members’ boutique and will be working there a good part of both days. The show is featuring Heidi Lund, a guild member and very talented quilt artist. She won Best Wearable Art and Best Small Quilt at 2006 APNQ Quiltfest. Definitely check out the show if you’re in the area. And of course, if you spot me come say hello!

I have a new PC. I LOVE my new PC. I can’t stand setting up my new PC. Making it all the worse is that my failing PC is a laptop that can sit on my desk next to my new PC. A horrible crutch. Let’s hope I get everything off before it crashes.

Flat Stanley gals. The kids are behind and still getting all the contacts matched up. I’ll be sure to update you once I have a status. Thanks again for the incredible generosity, I’m truly overhwhelmed!

Lovely, of course. I’m all about the magnetic pincushions though… Have fun at the quilt show. I just went to my first Austin Quilt Guild meeting last night but am sad to say it just isn’t my thing. There were like 300 people there — gah – felt like church with quilts.

I just recently found your site and was looking through it again last night. I saw “Kitsap” and was thrilled!– A local, crafty Mama! (We just moved from Gig Harbor to Olympia)– Then I saw your Washington list and was shocked… They’re all in Washington too?! How fun! I love your little pincushion, and just your site in general.

Nice pincushion. Good luck with the show this year. I think these will sell like hotcakes. Plus maybe sell a few kits as well? (I liked the strawberry pincushion kit from last year.) :-)

I always like to use USPS for shipping anything that I’ve sold on ebay. If you use the website to buy and print out your shipping labels you get free tracking info. This has turned into a very nice feature. It makes it cheaper than UPS or FedEX but without losing the tracking info.

I started a bunch of square pincushions as well, but there they all sit in their half-completed state. Your round one is nice! I didn’t know you had an etsy shop, I’m going to go find it. :o )
