Gifts kept secret for the holiday. Pillowcases for my nephews made using Esther’s pattern.
New oven mitts for my sisters and my mom. Made using my own pattern (larger than the DS version), lined with one layer of Insul Brite and one layer of batting. See my binding technique here.

These look awesome. I love the oven mitts!
So pretty. All those blues look great.
That blue with the brown leaves are my favorite of the DS line. So pretty. And great job adding the hanging loop–I was baffled that the Amy Butler pattern didn’t have one!
All lovely- I adore that airplane fabric!
What beautiful handmade gifts!
Simply fabulous…would you believe I STILL haven’t made mine. Okay this week for sure! I’m thinking a use for some Kaffe fabrics!
Nice! I like both the pillow case and the hot-mitts, both very useful gifts.
I wanted to make some of these and incorporate a sunday school craft for my kids at church. But I live in the middle of know where and couldn’t find quilted fabric to work with. Next year… I’ll plan better. They’re real cute.
i just love those oven mitts! but i would not be able to use them… too pretty! i would hang them up in a prominent place however…
I used that same airplane fabric for a pillowcase that I made for a little guy’s December birthday! Isn’t it perfect. I didn’t post about it ‘cuz I couldn’t get a good picture! Who ever thought about actually putting a pillow inside for the pic? Not me, but you certainly did!
) I feel so stupid…
What great gifts! I’ve made the pillowcases for kids in the family and they’re always well received. So much fun to individualize!
Oh, I sooo love handmade pillowcases and this one just is wonderful for a little boy!
I love the oven mitts. Lovely work as always. Did you add a custom label to the mitts? If so did you make it yourself or order them? I want to get some labels for my own hand creations. I’m trying to determine the best route.
Those are gorgeous. Love love love the pillowcase.
I’ve just found your blog, and I love all the ideas and fabulous creativity. I was thinking (really, and as usual) I wonder where she is. And then I had this feeling that you were in the general area. Lo and behold. You are indeed. I don’t know why it matters, but I think I hold a secret hope that more creative people in the northwest will cause some kind of goodness. Somehow. Either that or I’m just crazy.
Thanks for all the great ideas.
To respond to Rachel: Let me know what you discover! I did the whole Bubble Jet Set thing last year. I used my inkjet printer to print out ‘Pink Chalk Studio’ in pink using a font I liked. I just cut them up, turn under the two long sides and sew them on things. It’s worked so far but I’d love to have a woven label. Something fancier that had the edges finished so it could be sewn flat or sewn into the side of a softie or a purse.
Gorgeous as always. Kathy, I confess I have tagged you for a meme. Please forgive me.
oh, wow! the mitts are gorgeous!
great oven mitts! you inspire me to make some now…(something to add to my “want to do list”).
Hey, Kathy- delurking here to ask- where did you get your labels? I’m in the market and looking for some good ones. If you have the time, would you let me know? Beautiful projects! Love the color choices.
The pot holders re so cute…I love that fabric and have used it in 3 quilts now.
