I’m quite sure you’ve never heard a political peep out of me on this blog. I tend to fly under the radar when it comes to such things. I’m a staunch Independent, much to my Father’s Democratic chagrin, sorry Dad, I just can’t check that Party box at the top of the ballot.
Today, I step into the world of politics. My Uncle Ted is currently running for re-election as the Governor of Oregon. Besides hoping he wins so I can drive down and see my family during the January festivities, he’s a good, honest and passionate man who I’d vote for even if he didn’t grow up with my Mom.
My mom forwarded me an e-mail from Ted’s wife this morning:
“Ted’s opponent, Ron Saxton, has been airing an ad on television in which he challenges viewers to think of 10 things that Ted has done, in 10 seconds. A stopwatch ticks away….
Some clever kids in Ted’s campaign office, who know about computers and video and so on, created a response. Go to www.tedforgov.com and go to “New Video.” You won’t see this response on television–it’s being circulated entirely via the Internet. It’s cool! The reference to “Maggie’s Choice” at the very end is for the musicians, a local band.”
So, if you live in Oregon go check it out and pass it along.
Now, back to quilting.

That’s a great ad! So clever, and so positive, it would be great if more of political leaders could remain positive and speak to their own accomplishemnts during elections! I don’t live in Oregon, but I might move if your uncle gets re-elected!
Too bad it’s not going to be put on TV! Brilliantly in your face!!
Very interesting to see, and I live on the other side of the country! Go Ted!
Good luck to him. I am amazed that there are any good guys/gals left in politics – it is such an ugly business.
If I lived in Oregon I’d vote for your Uncle! He’s my kind of guy. I hope he’s re-elected we need more Governors like Uncle Ted. Love the video.
We’ve lived in Camas, WA (just across the river from Oregon) for two years and one of the weirdest things is getting all the political ads for both states on tv. We really have to pay attention to see whether they apply to us or not. That Saxton guy is really incredible when it comes to the negativity and I’m glad he won’t be our governor, although I would like the chance to vote against him. Sad to say, voting, the last few years, often comes down to voting against the worst person instead of being excited about voting for the best.
