Muffuletta

We spend a lot of time around our house eating and thinking about what we’re going to eat. Greg and I both like to cook and all four of us love good food. The kids beg to stay up late so they can see the end of an Iron Chef competition. I have always loved the whole PBS cooking show circuit and I can get it on demand with Food Network, pure heaven. On a recent $40 a Day, Rachel Ray munches on a Muffuletta sandwich from Central Grocery in New Orleans. OMG, I had to have one. I found a recipe for the bread and the olive spread. Both were keepers.

Love muffulatta! Had it the first time on a quilt retreat. I’ve bought it a couple times at Costco – they have a lot of that delicious exotic stuff. The problem is no one but me eats it – and I certainly shouldn’t eat a whole jar myself!

Thanks for the recipe – now just need some Abita or other suitable beer and we’ll be set. It is so cool that your kids are adventurous about food. The verdict is definitely still out on little Miss Bea.

um, speaking of cooking shows on demand, do you have comcast digital cable? many of the saturday cooking shows (and our quarterly cooking specials) are available on video on demand after they air.

but, PSA over now, I’ve been really itching to bake bread lately, so maybe I’ll start with muffulettas (probably a veggie version though!).

You get a big thumbs up from this Louisianian! It looks delicious. Amy is right, you need an Abita to go with that.

AH! I am so jealous – foodnetwork is among the few things I miss.. lol.. We do get an occasional Emeril, Rachel Ray and a couple of other ones early Sunday mornings but I haven´t seen Iron Chef in so long! My oldest son and I always comment on new foods like that actress that is one of the judges “this composition tastes like early morning on my grandfathers land when the dewdrops are still on the lemongrass and the nightingale sings her last son” lol..
So yes, officially jealous! To get even I´ll have to plan a day trip to Pisa soon.. grin grin.. 100 $ roundtrip with Ryanair…hhmmm.. I feel better already… but I´m still missing Iron Chef! :-D
And the muffuletta look and sound delicious!
