Whiplash Goodies
Aug 30th, 2006 by Kathy
I love winning prizes. Random, skill based, doesn’t matter. It’s fun to get the stuff. I’m also very lucky. Now, of course, I’m lucky in the important ways: great kids, fun husband, loving parents. But I’m also lucky in that ‘You’ve Won’ way. I’ve won the door prize at a Nordstrom fashion show good for a new pair of shoes, I won an autographed baseball from Vida Blue in a mail-in contest sponsored by Calistoga (yes, it’s people like me that fill out those little cards that come attached to the bottle), I won a $1,000 jackpot on a Wheel of Fortune machine on my third pull and I never play slot machines, I won a door prize at my second quilt guild meeting and I won a fat quarter exchange a few months ago (I’ve only been a member for less than a year!). If there’s a card, I fill it out and drop it in the box.
I received this great package in the mail last week for my Whiplash win with the Water Bottle Carrier Tutorial. It was exciting because I didn’t know before opening the package which prize I would be getting. There were purse handles from Tall Poppy, an Amy Butler purse pattern and a fabulous set of fat eighths from Sew, Mama, Sew. I learned on the website that these fabrics are from organically grown cotton and naturally dyed. The dyes are derived from plants, vegetables, minerals, and some animal products. All dyes are non-toxic, non-allergenic, completely bio-degradable and environmentally friendly. This quilt pattern (using these cottons) is available for free on their website:

A huge thanks to Whip Up and the generous product sponsors. I’ve received so many lovely notes about the tutorial, getting this package of goodies was icing on the cake.

very well deserved!!!!
Ohh Kathy such wonderful stuff. I am soo glad you won, I love your water bottle holder and you deserve to win. Have a great Wednesday. Clarice
Loved that water bottle carrier so the loot is well deserved. And it looks like pretty good loot too. Congratulations.
What a lucky girl you are! Isn’t that fun?!? Enjoy!
I agree with Mama Urchin, you do deserve it. You’re a Glückspilze too! That’s a “lucky mushroom — the cute red ones with white spots
What a great winning streak you have. I have had small phases like that and it feels amazing. Congratulations on everything.
You definitely deserve the prize! And I know of just another lucky person, my MIL, she wins at every lucky draw.
It deserve it! Your tutorial is awesome! Your prize looks so fun. Can’t wait to see what you do with it all !
This is amazing..since I found your blog ,im in sheer amazement!! You deserve these goodies! Way to go!
Congratulations to you. What a lovely prize and well deserved.
wonderful prices - you´re a lucky girl winning so many lovely things (not only at whiplash)… and you surely deserve it!
have fun with them! ^^
Love it!
Okay, that was just a joke, ;o)
You really ARE lucky! I’m so jealous of your winning success. I think the only thing I’ve ever won was a doorprize at a church function when I was in college - a flashlight.
You’re going to have fun with those fabrics, and I’d say it’s time you made a purse!
I’m so glad you got something good!
AND I am so jealous because I have never, I mean never–really, never–won anything…ever. I think I must have the opposite gene to your winning one. At least I can say all the good prizes are going to someone equally as good. That makes me feel better
[…] I used the organic cottons I won from Sew, Mama, Sew via the Whip Up challenge. The dyes are all natural based, non-toxic and biodegradable. I fudged because the cotton thread, batting and linen backing obviously all have chemicals in them from the production process. I’m excited to use these in my garden this year. Come on Spring! […]
[…] As a side note, they select 2 or 3 tickets at the end of each seminar for a door prize. I won a free yard of fabric at Sandra’s session. I told you guys I was lucky. I’ll share other goodies over my next few posts. […]
