I grew up in a small town in Southeast Missouri. My sisters and I couldn’t wait to burn rubber out of town once we graduated from high school. Now that I’m older with kids of my own I appreciate my small town roots more than ever. My parents are still there, my sister Jenny headed north to St. Louis, Anna landed in Massachusetts and Liz settled into Connecticut. Coast to Coast sprawl. This past week we squeezed a year’s worth of visiting with my Mom and Dad into a short 6 days. Tide pools, Pike Place Market, dinner at Ivar’s, fresh picked blackberry pie and a lazy day on the beach at Point No Point.
Amy turned me on to Flickr Toys for making the cool mosaic.

Sounds like a nice trip. Looks like one too!
What a busy few days! I’ve heard about Flickr and all the stuff you can do. Makes me curious, but I’m holding back because it looks a bit addicting.
I am jumping up and down trying to figure out where you were LOL. I am from SE MO! I think I know where the riverboat pic is, and the lake MAYBE I know. The street with bricks I might possibly know but it never looked that cool before.
anyways yay SE MO no one EVER is from here but me LOLOL. xoxo melzie
Love the mosiac..and your blog.
It sounds like 6 wonderful days. Thanks for the flickr link I might give it a go.
Oh – gorgeous photos/mosaic. Of course, look at the scenery you had to work with?!! But, still, I’ll give you some credit.
I know what you mean about the spread out family thing. I’ve been thinking about it lately and how it has resulted in the type of society we have now… air travel / daycares / single family homes / family replacing technology…. (My sister is named Jenny (and not Jennifer) too!) A good family visit is hard to beat.
great photos!
Yum, I can smell those crab legs. Is there anything better in this world than crab?
Isn’t it funny how we run so far from home, and then love that small-town feeling? I recently caught myself inviting my cousins’ wives (both named Erica) to my hometown. Of course, I have a much different outlook on antiquing now, too.
Looks like you had a great time!
Congrats on the Whip Up win. I know I loved the water bottle carrier!
Oh, every one of those places brings back fond memories. Never been to Missouri – I’m sure it’s wonderful – but I can’t imagine living anywhere but our wonderful Pacific Northwest!
Mama was from Senath. Nobody ever heard of it outside the bootheel. Thanks for a reminder of childhood.
