Last year for her birthday, Caitlin received a Stitch-It Kit by Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching. We fell in LOVE with all her embroidery patterns and had to have more. This is Leil’s creation. She chose the Chinatown pattern which includes this Chinese symbol for Lucky. (As I was testing my links I realized I put the symbol upside down! I’m off to fix that.)

I ironed the transfer on to the lavender Kona cotton. I left the fabric big enough to fit in a hoop so Leil could easily do the embroidery work. I then backed the fabric scraps and the completed embroidery with Wonder Under, my fusible web of choice. I’m heavy handed with the iron and Wonder Under likes high heat. Heat n Bond requires a low heat setting, if your iron is too hot you’ll melt the webbing and it won’t stick. Please don’t ask me how long it took me to figure that out. After fusing the pieces in place I used decorative stitching to give it some strength in the washing machine.

Such a cute T
We had a little embroidery going on here today too, but not nearly as professional as your and Leil’s work.
I’m amazed that Leil likes to embroidery and craft and that she has a clear taste of what she likes. And she has such a great teacher! She did a great job on the embroidery and the shirt.
I haven’t used Wonder Under much, but my first experience with Stitch Witchery was bad, bad and I didn’t touch fusible webbing for years. Heat N Bond works well for me, but I think my iron is a bit on the cooler side, so that makes sense.
Karen what a great way to use our girls embroidery. I am going to show Chow what you made. Thank you for the idea. Also thank you for the info about the kids quilt book. I am putting it on hold !! have a great weekend. Clarice
I meant to write Chloe. I told you I was dyslexic {: - ( Clarice
I’m sure my girl would love doing a similar project. And I have that blue fabric, only in yellow. Just thought you should know.
so cute- Jenny’s designs are so approachable- I think that’s why she’s become so popular, deservingly so!
You know even though it was a boo boo I think I like the second version a tiny bit better. Looks more asbtract! Great job on the embriodery!!
Leil, I love your shirt…maybe you can help me make one. Love you, Grandma
