OK. I’ve come up with an idea that I think respects the spirit of the quilt show guidelines but still allows me to share my photos with my friends. I’ve also been mulling various ways to use the Friend and Family designations on Flickr. I think this solves the whole thing. Thanks to Judy for being my first tester, it led me to my final solution.
I’ve uploaded my show pictures to my Flickr album but they are not available to the public. They are only available for viewing by my Friends. After testing this approach out with Judy I realized that sending out invitations to a lot of e-mail addresses inviting you all to officially be my Friend on Flickr would be a bigger task than I wanted to take on. Here’s what I came up with. I created a new Flickr user ID that can be used by friends to log in and see photos that are not available to the general public. All you need to do is leave a comment with an accurate e-mail address and I will give you the user ID and the password. If you’re uncomfortable with putting your information on a comment send me an e-mail directly to kathy (at) pinkchalkstudio (dot) com.
I think APNQ needs to move forward with promoting their quilt show participants. So many quilters do not have their own websites that viewing their work will continue to be done so only locally which is a shame. I’m not a show participant so maybe there are reasons that one would not want their work seen by people outside the show venue. I sure can’t think of what they’d be.
If you commented to yesterday’s post no need to comment again, I’m getting ready to respond to each one with the access info.

ohhhh count me in I’d love to view your pics…
Hi Kathy. I would love to see the photos. We have the same problem with our guild show. People prefer not to have their photos posted on the web. I undertstand there are cases where people take photos of original designs and then make patterns and sell them. I just found your site via Wee Wonderfuls – great stuff.
I would love to see the photos!
I would love to see them also!
Happy to be the guinea pig!! They were fabulously amazing!
love to see them too!
Hi Kathy — I went to the show on Sunday but would love to see your photos. I was surprised that I needed more time to look at the show than I’d alloted.
Oh I’d love to see the pics from the show too!
Kathy,
The quilts are simply amazing! Such a variety of technique and imagination, too.
I agree with you about the rewards of exposure vs. the risks to intellectual property rights. A few dedicated bloggers can provide a tremendous boost in recognition for an artist — well beyond the limits of traditional advertising methods.
Kathy, I would love to see the quilts. I am always impressed to see other peoples talent.
I’d love to see the photos also!
I’d love to see the photos too! Now that the weather is finally cooling off here in Nebraska, I’ve got the quilting bug again.
Thanks for sharing your photos with us!
Count me in!
I’d love to see the photos! ^^
I too would love to see the photos. Quilt shows are so inspiring.
Quilt shows are so inspiring. I would love to see your photos!
I would love to see the photos. Thanks!
i would love to see the photos!
I have been enjoying your blog and would love to see the photos that you took.
Hi Kathy: I’ve been lurking about your site for a while, but since I’m not sewing right now I have nothing to offer except heartfelt thanks for bringing me along with you on your crafting experiences. Although after seeing your Hop, Skip and Jump quilt I went out and bought the pattern. It’s now my goal to make that quilt…someday. I would love to see the photos you took at the quilt show. Your presentation and photos also reflect your excellent work and artistic talent. Keep up the good work.
Would love to see the photos…..at our last state quilt show (in Australia), we were unable to even take photos which was pretty sad.
Oh, boy! Quilt pictures! I’m excited to see them.
Thanks for figuring a way to do this.
Count me in, please!
~Mariah~
i’d like to see them too, if that’s OK. thank you!
Of course I want to see your photos. See you soon.
I would like to see the pics also. Thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing! I’d love to be a ‘friend’.
I was at the quilt show, and was blown away, but I don’t have a digital camera, so I had to limit my photos to disposable cameras I purchased there – $$$$ and I don’t have them back yet.
thanks again -
Thank you for sharing your time to share your pics! Me too.I want to see please.
Hi, I’m in Oklahoma City and am grateful for your offer to share viewing of your quilt pictures.
Hello from downunder. I NEED to see the pics. Thanks
Thanks for taking the pics, haven’t been to a quilt show for a few months, so would love to see them!
If you’re not sick of sending the info out, I’d love to see the pictures as well.
It is indeed too bad about the quilt show policy. I bet most of the quilters in the show would be thrilled to have their quilts shown and talked about on the internet.
I would like to see too, please!
I get very aggravated about quilt shows being excessively restrictive about photographs. It makes me think less of the group putting on the show.
oh yes, please email me with the detail infos!!! thanx!
