Weekend at the Beach

For those of you familiar with the Oregon Coast, you’ll immediately recognize that it doesn’t get much better than this. Blue skies, a perfect breeze and sunny days were with us for our four day summer getaway. We ate lots of clam chowder, Dungeness crab, fish & chips, ice cream and salt water taffy. We took long walks on the beach, flew kites, watched the girls bury themselves in the sand and gently scoop jellyfish back into the waves, sat in beach chairs and read books (I finished Girl with a Pearl Earring in one day, yes, I’m a little late on that tip but thoroughly enjoyed it!) and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean every night. The perfect vacation.

Oh – you make we want to head to the beach SO badly! Maybe we can fit in a quick day trip before the rains set in. The picture is of a VERY familiar stretch of beach! :-)

I believe that I have seen picture of that spot or something much like it from my friend who lives near the OR coast. Someday I hope to see it in person. It is so lovely.

We got to spend a week on the Oregon coast two summers ago – we loved it! Isn’t that the Goonies rock? I don’t remember the real name of it:)

I too flashed back to the movie The Goonies which is a favorite of mine. I’m so glad you were able to relax and enjoy yourselves. How long a drive was it? We haven’t been in ages and I don’t think we have ever gone directly from home.

It looks beautiful! I remember when we visited a friend in OR it was very green and very wet. I liked it, though, because in TX every thing was very brown and very dry.

I’m glad you all had fun!

THat looks like a lovely place. We are driving up the coast from San Diego next week heading for Manitoba, Canada (North of North Dakota) but not sure if we are going all the way up or cross country after San Francisco. No I am thinking we may have to follow the coast at least as far as Oregon. Thanks for the photos.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time, Kathy. Someday when the little guy is older and we can go on long car trips again, maybe we’ll be able to make it out that way….sigh.

Wow, those stone formations are beautiful. I’ve never seen the Pacific ocean, but someday I’d like to travel that way.
