Good Reads

Before Caitlin was born I read like a mad woman. I always had a book in my hand. I had favorite authors and kept my eyes and ears tuned to finding great new reads. What happened? 11 years after the birth of my first child I can’t even choose a book [...]

Whiplash Goodies

I love winning prizes. Random, skill based, doesn’t matter. It’s fun to get the stuff. I’m also very lucky. Now, of course, I’m lucky in the important ways: great kids, fun husband, loving parents. But I’m also lucky in that ‘You’ve Won’ way. I’ve won the door prize [...]

Family

I grew up in a small town in Southeast Missouri. My sisters and I couldn’t wait to burn rubber out of town once we graduated from high school. Now that I’m older with kids of my own I appreciate my small town roots more than ever. My parents are still there, my [...]

A Little Late Summer Color

My Mom and Dad arrived last night for a late summer visit. Giddy to see the grandkids and thankful to leave the Missouri summer heat behind. A lot of eating, wine drinking and late evening conversation happens around our dining table when guests are in the house. I wanted to add a [...]

She chose the Chinatown pattern which includes this Chinese symbol for Lucky. (As I was testing my links [...]

Follow Up on Quiltfest Photographs

OK. I’ve come up with an idea that I think respects the spirit of the quilt show guidelines but still allows me to share my photos with my friends. I’ve also been mulling various ways to use the Friend and Family designations on Flickr. I think this solves the whole thing. [...]

Pacific Northwest Quiltfest

I attended the Pacific Northwest Quiltfest on Friday. I went by myself which is how I like to go to quilt shows. There was a wide range of entries from traditional to innovative (253 in all). The Innovative Pieced category seemed the most spectacular to me. I went away feeling very [...]

Weekend at the Beach

For those of you familiar with the Oregon Coast, you’ll immediately recognize that it doesn’t get much better than this. Blue skies, a perfect breeze and sunny days were with us for our four day summer getaway. We ate lots of clam chowder, Dungeness crab, fish & chips, ice cream and salt water [...]
