Do you ever have a holiday just get away? Easter is here and I’m not ready for it. I’m attempting a comeback today and tomorrow. On my to do list: shop for Easter dinner, buy some white eggs and make 2 Wee Bunnies.
I love Easter. I love the memories and religious traditions I grew up with. Going to church on Sunday morning, coming downstairs and finding a brightly colored basket filled with a chocolate bunny, the beautiful table my mother would set for dinner with the good plates, a large yummy ham, hunting for Easter eggs and the laughter we all shared at finding that one egg about 3 months later.
The egg is a gift from my friend Jone. I met Jone while our kids shared the same first grade class in Santa Fe, New Mexico. At some point in the conversation she uttered those magic words: “I like to make things.” It was the beginning of a cherished friendship. Jone is a real artist but she likes to be crafty too. She has a heart of gold and a soul to match. It touches everything she creates.
One year she hosted an egg decorating party where we brought our kids, blew out the centers of goose eggs, drank tea and figured out how to use those Ukranian wax wands. This woman knows how to throw a party! She emerged from a closet with a box containing eggs she had made for her children. They were the most beautiful things I had ever seen. I later became the lucky recipient of one made just for me. As my girls get older I look inside this egg and see a glimpse of their childhood captured in time. What a special gift from a friend I love. Thank you darling!
Wishing all of you a wonderful Easter weekend with your family and your kids.

Kathy….after sending you an email, I opened the blog connection you sent me and …..I am so touched. Of course, you know me well enough to know that I am never really speechless….but your kind words just threw me for a loop. Our friendship is one of the most treasured things in my life. I miss you here for the Creative Spirit that is present whenever we are together. I was wishing that you were here for the Easter brunch this Sunday…I spent all last week making the eggs for this years’ group. They are not as magnificent as the one you had a picture of (wow! what a photo) …I painted little boxes instead that have tiny painted eggs inside…hmmm….guess it wouldn’t hurt if you received it after the fact, hunh?
I love you and I miss you so very much….I hope the Easter Bunny brings you something special this year. xoxoxoxoxoxo Jone
